Zambia police arrested 7 Ethiopians

ZAMBIA – Police detained 7 Ethiopians in Kalomo for unlawful entry in the country. The Ethiopians were intercepted in the town en route to Livingstone aboard a Shalom bus services last Thursday.

Law enforcement sources confirmed the development to Zanis but referred all queries to the immigration public relations officer, Howard Shinka who by press time said had not yet received an official report over the matter.

The named Ethiopians, all male and aged between 20 and 30, are believed to have been destined for South Africa under the pretext of seeing their relatives living there, but were intercepted on the bus
around 01:00 hours on Thursday after a tip from the public.

The sources said the Ethiopians who were found without any inter-country entry documentation and baggage have since been transferred from police custody and remanded at Kalomo state prison awaiting immigration proceedings.
