A scientist from Weimar, Germany, has been missing in Ethiopia for several weeks. As the newspaper Thüringer Allgemeine reported on Wednesday, the missing scientist has been identified as Professor Dirk Donath. He has been living in Ethiopia for almost ten years. He was with friends four weeks ago in the country and have explored an area, reports the newspaper. In a night camp he had “for a brief moment” detached from the group and had not returned. The incident happened four weeks ago. A large-scale search operation had been inconclusive.
The 61-year-old professor works in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa at the Architecture Institute of the local university. He teaches at the Department of Building Construction and Design. The Bauhaus University in Weimar had sent him there. Since 2008 he lives and works in Addis Ababa, where he implemented development aid projects.
