Former Boy Scout leader indicted on child pornography charges
ORLANDO, Fla. – An indictment unsealed in federal court on May 6 charged Adam Lee Brigham, 26, of Valkaria, Fla., with four counts of production of child pornography, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
During Brigham’s detention hearing, the court was notified that he has been a leader with the Boy Scouts in Brevard County.
If convicted, Brigham faces up 30 years in federal prison on each count.
“Through partnerships like the ones we have with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, we will continue to vigorously investigate child exploitation cases like this one,” said Sue McCormick, special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations overseeing Brevard County.
According to the indictment, on Jan. 19 and 21 and on Feb.1 and 23, Brigham caused a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce child pornography.
The indictment also notifies Brigham that the United States intends to seek forfeiture of assets allegedly traceable to the offense.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Carlos Perez.
