OptumHealth to Provide NowClinic(SM) Online Care Services to Delta Air Lines Employees in Minnesota
OptumHealth, a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) business, announced that Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) will be the first corporation to offer OptumHealth’s NowClinicSM online care services to its employees. The services will initially roll out to Delta’s Minnesota-based employees and their families.
NowClinic online care provides secure, real-time access to a network of licensed physicians over the Internet or phone. Individuals can visit with a physician on their computers using secure live chat – and even converse face-to-face using webcams. Through NowClinic, doctors can review health concerns and symptoms, discuss medications and refer patients to health care facilities for further treatment when necessary.
“Access to quality, affordable healthcare for our employees is a key part of making Delta a great place to work,” said Mike Campbell, Delta’s executive vice president of Human Resources and Labor Relations. “The NowClinic online care service will give our people convenient, accessible options to help manage their health and overall well-being.”
“Just as Delta enables its customers to make vital connections by air, OptumHealth enables Delta employees to make critical connections to physicians remotely,” said Rob Webb, CEO of OptumHealth Care Solutions. “This innovative and easy-to-use service will help make high-quality care more accessible for Delta’s busy and mobile work force.”
NowClinic online care users have the option of visiting a doctor on demand or making an appointment for a more convenient time. After logging on to the service’s secure website, users indicate their specific medical concern and select a credentialed doctor from a list of those currently available. The selected doctor receives an immediate notification and reviews the concern before connecting with the patient.
OptumHealth first piloted NowClinic online care with Texas physicians and their patients. The company has identified 20 additional states for the next phase of a planned national rollout. OptumHealth provides NowClinic services in partnership with leading online care technology developer American WellTM.
