Oxfam’s reaction to UK government’s announcement of £19m aid package to Gaza

“The promise of aid to Gaza is welcome. But as recent events show it is a guarantee that aid and other goods and people can get into Gaza that is also required. Aid plus diplomatic action to end the embargo and put the peace process back on track is what is needed. The UK government should follow up this aid pledge with strong diplomatic efforts. An emergency international conference at getting all the major players round the negotiating table to end Gaza’s suffering would be a welcome start.”
