Janesville Man Sentenced to 22 Years for Armed Bank Robbery
MADISON, WI—Stephen P. Sinnott, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that yesterday Thomas A. Senge, a/k/a Thomas A. Steele, 59, Janesville, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 22 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb for robbing the Farmers State Bank, Union Center, Wis., on December 9, 2008. Senge pled guilty to bank robbery and to using a firearm in connection with that bank robbery on April 2, 2010.
Judge Crabb found that Senge was a career offender who had continued to commit crimes despite having spent a quarter century behind bars. The federal sentence will begin when Senge completes his state sentence, which is currently projected for 2015.
Senge robbed the Farmers State Bank with Richard Molinaro. On April 29, 2010, Judge Crabb sentenced Molinaro to 17 years in prison for his role in the bank robbery. All federal sentences are served without the possibility of parole.
These convictions followed an investigation by the Union Center Police Department, Juneau County Sheriff’s Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. O’Shea
