Dems In “Full-Scale Civil War” While Americans Ask ‘Where Are The Jobs?’

Washington — During his weekly press briefing with reporters, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) said that Washington Democrats are engaged in a “full-scale civil war” and “running around Washington like Keystone Cops” when Americans want them to focus on putting people back to work.  Boehner also discussed President Obama’s shaky relationship with the nation’s employers, saying that “it’s troubling that at a time when Americans are asking ‘where are the jobs?’ the president has no credibility with the people who actually create jobs in America.”  With the president in Michigan today attempting to sell his failing ‘stimulus’ policies, Boehner said that “after 18 months, millions more jobs lost, a 9.5 percent unemployment rate, and trillions in new debt, it’s clear – I think to everyone – that what the president has been pushing is not working.”  He also noted that Republicans have offered better solutions to address Americans’ everyday challenges and will continue to do so.  Following are excerpts from Boehner’s comments: BOEHNER DISCUSSES DEMOCRATS’ “CIVIL WAR” AND SAYS DEMS SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE:

“With all the trouble that House Democrats are in right now, it was really only a matter of time before the gloves came off.  I just didn’t know that the targets would be each other.  The panic that’s building among Democrats erupted into a full-scale civil war this week when the president’s spokesman suggested that his party could lose the House this fall.  I understand that the House Democrats are angry because they see the White House throwing them under the bus.  But let’s not forget, House Democrats gave President Obama every dollar, every tax hike, every ‘stimulus’ program, and every government takeover that he asked for.  Now, the one thing that the American people asked the Democrats to do was to say ‘no,’ and yet, they never did.”

BOEHNER DISCUSSES PRESIDENT OBAMA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH NATION’S EMPLOYERS AND FAILING ‘STIMULUS’ POLICIES:

“Desperate times call for desperate measures, so this week President Obama brought in Warren Buffett and former President Bill Clinton to help him communicate with the business community.  Now, it’s troubling that at a time when Americans are asking ‘where are the jobs?’ the president has no credibility with the people who actually create jobs in America.  And every time the president has had a chance to help small businesses, he’s turned his back and doubled down on more Washington ‘stimulus’ spending.  Today is no different: the president is in a city suffering from 11.8 percent unemployment and going to tell them that we ought to keep doing what we’re doing.  And after 18 months, millions more jobs lost, a 9.5 percent unemployment rate, trillions in new debt, it’s clear – I think, to everyone – that what the president has been pushing is not working.  Washington reports that are filled with a bunch of fuzzy math won’t change the fact that the ‘stimulus’ is failing by the president’s own standards.  And you can barely get one in 10 Americans to say anything good about the ‘stimulus’ bill.”

BOEHNER SAYS DEMS NEED TO STOP “RUNNING AROUND WASHINGTON LIKE KEYSTONE COPS” AND DO THE PEOPLE’S WORK:

“Americans just want Democrats to focus on creating jobs and they’re running around Washington like Keystone Cops.  We have a president and a congress who won’t listen to the American people – and for that matter, they won’t listen to each other.  House Republicans have offered better solutions on each and every occasion when we had to oppose our Democrat colleagues.  We’re going to continue to propose better solutions that will help get our economy going again, help small businesses create jobs in our country.  Unfortunately, the president and Democrats in Congress have refused to consider these ideas.  They’re in such a disarray up here they can’t produce a budget or a troop funding bill.  I think it’s time for them to grow up, and begin to deal with what the American people sent them here to deal with.”
