Man charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in Carson hit-and-run
A 40-year-old man was arrested Saturday night in connection with a hit-and-run in Carson that left a male bicyclist dead, authorities said.
William Keith Square was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and is being held at the Carson sheriff’s station, said Sgt. Walid Ashrafnia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim, who has not been identified, was riding his bike north on Santa Fe Avenue near 218th Place about 9 p.m. when he was struck by a dark-colored sport-utility vehicle that fled the scene, Ashrafnia said. A bystander wrote down the license plate and authorities arrested Square at his home in Long Beach.
The victim was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he died.
