Bristol Harbour Festival: help needed with our family activities!
Next weekend (31st July and 1st August) the Oxfam South West Campaigns Team will be at the Bristol Harbour Festival to promote our call for a Fair Deal on climate change.
We have some really exciting plans including activities to help families explore the challenges of climate change for poor people and how they find solutions. There will be water involved, games, crafts and the opportunity to take part in a political campaign action that involves tattoos (not real ones of course!) We’re growing cress gardens in the office so that children at the festival can make their own models of floating gardens, just like the ones people in Bangladesh grow to protect their food crops from floods.
We are looking for volunteers to help out with these activities over the two days. Could you…
- Help people to learn about Oxfam’s work in a fun and creative way?
- Highlight the impacts of climate change on people in developing countries?
- Inspire children and adults to take action towards a fair climate deal?
If so, please email Fiona at fremnant@oxfam.org.uk for more details.
The Bristol Harbour Festival runs from 30th July -1st August, with a wide range of attractions for all the family around the harbourside. We’ll be at the Bristol Village Fayre area in the Lloyds amphitheatre, which is an area that’s all about sustainability and climate change, with loads of interactive stuff to get involved in.
If you can’t help out but you’re bringing your family, make sure you stop by, join in with the games and get your Fair Deal tattoo to show your support for those in poorer communities affected by climate change. We look forward to seeing you!
