This is Ethiopian Review Policy Research Center’s series on From Dictatorship to Democracy extracted from books published by Albert Einstein Institution.
Nonviolent Resistance (NVR) is the use of NVR weapons (strikes, boycotts, civil disobedience, mass protests, nonviolent sabotage), to disrupt the functioning of the regime and make the country ungovernable. It is to deny the tyrant the compliance, cooperation and submission he requires.
NVR isn’t just holding a demonstration, listening to speakers, and then heading home for supper. It isn’t pacifism based on moral or religious principle, either.
***Wikileaks: on TPLF’s EFFORT Companies
… EFFORT’s and similar EPRDF parties endowments’ companies receive preferential access to limited credit and/or foreign exchange stocks, or treatment on government bids and contracts, customs clearance, and import/export license. …that these “party-statals” likely receive preferences even over the special treatment received by state-owned enterprises. … Azeb’s ascendance to the EFFORT Vice Chairmanship reflects an increasing consolidation of influence within the party and control over resources by Meles and Azeb.
***Ginbot 7: on TPLF’s EFFORT Companies
The TPLF has clearly been engaged in massive corruption and unethical business practices by national or international business rules and practices since its rise to power in Ethiopia. As a ruling party, it not only owns strategic sectors of the economy and engages in commercial and trading activities, it also puts competing private sectors in a hopeless no-win situation. This preponderant economic dominance is also used as a political weapon to harass, incarcerate, dominate, weaken and control opposition forces in order to stay in power indefinitely.
Under these untenable circumstances, it is a moral imperative for the Ethiopian people to continue the struggle against the total economic and political domination of the Tigrai ethnic minority regime, that hails from one of the poorest regions of Ethiopia and produces no exportable commodity, yet, parasitically exploits the natural resources of the country for its sole benefit.
The economic hegemony of the TPLF coupled with its gross mismanagement of the nation’s resources and the massive systemic corruption that has infected the body politic of the nation is the ticking time bomb that may very well destroy the fabric of the Ethiopian society.

Full List of TPLF Parasitic Companies Under EFFORT

There are also many companies not under effort or affiliated to effort as such but owned by the big woyane mafia bosses such as sebhat, meles, azeb, etc. An example is the so called Yetebaberut petroleum. I have heard that sibhat nega is the owner of this company behind the curtain. I also heard that they are forcing their tutelage in the regions to accept service contract from this company. Ethiopia now effectively belongs to the parasitic weyane mafia.

The capital of all these companies put together is not more than US$200 million. And the majority are shitty companies that don’t measure up to international standards. Whatever one does to sabotage these so called companies will not have any significant impact on the regime. Meles is in for the long haul as long as the powers support him. The question is when is going to loose face with them? Look at Egypt. Mubarak and the military regime can go. But then again where will the new government go and what kind of change will it usher in?

Hi anonymous! there something beyond the capital thats is sucking the public resources. These companies work under a disguised names and the public does not know they are obligate parasites. They are tightly attached to all government ministries in purchases, contracts, transport services so that government offices are forced to procure goods and services from them without formal cotract procedure, even without their plan. Typical example: at the time of fertilizer distribution, regional or zonal offices of agriculture & health offices are instructed to send their trucks and drivers (dissel filled and pre diem paid) to load the TPLF’s fertilizers. this is just a minute example of how they attach their parasitic tube to suck blood from the public resource.

We have to have a good Think Tank how to dismantle step by step of these companies. Don’t forget also Eritrean companies and businessmen who are making banks in Ethiopia.
I believe companies, people who are making bank for eample if they re making over 100 million birr when good government comes must do something such as, empowering the poor and bringing them out of povert. Every wealthy can do these social programs with what ever they wantt to do, for instance open up schools and if they have ego, they can even use their own name to establish schools, provide farming for the rural poor, educate the homeless, etc.. Not only they are doing good for humanity and their own people, they will feel good for themselves that at least they have contributed to the society and they even become proud and be motivated more.

Kayo and the likes,
You have the nerve blaming the late HaileSellassie and Mengestu. Thieves like Kayo and the likes of him have no moral value or no shame, the more they loot and commit crimes, the proud they gate. How disgusting! With a shadow of a doubt, TPLF regime is much, much worse than the derg regime.

Good list, but some like Zeleke mechanized agriculture is far from true. Zeleke is a reagae singer from US and he owns it with his brother and friends. Just because we don’t like people we ahouldn’t label them. This will drag the struggle to freedom. It is negative and useless.
