Replica Halo Gun draws police to Bungie Studios

September 9th, 2009 at 5:25 pm |

The folks over at Bungie Studios in Kirkland, Washington got some surprise visitors recently thanks to a mix-up with a company prop. The visitors in question were several members of the Kirkland Police Department responding to a call concerning someone carrying a gun near the game developer studios.

The reason for the police response to Bungie was a person on their way to a local farmers market spotting someone carrying an AK-47 near the studios. Needless to say the call reporting someone carrying a combat rifle aroused the interest of the police which led to the visit at Bungie. Thankfully what was initially thought to be a person up to no good carrying a real gun, was in fact, a Bungie employee carrying a prop replica Halo Sniper Rifle and not an AK-47.

After the initial confusion the situation was resolved in a matter of minutes with no arrests, however, the police did issue a stern warning to Bungie officials that gun props in the future should be carried more discreetly.
