Micro Innovations Wireless Keyboard and Laser Mouse
Several years ago, I wrote a glowing article on the MI Micro Innovations Optical Mouse. I recently purchased an Micro Innovations Wireless Keyboard and Laser Mouse. Both go use many AAA batteries. I still like the benefits of an optical or laser mouse. But I have mixed feelings about the battery operated Micro Innovations wireless keyboard and mouse.
My issue is not exclusively with the MI Micro Innovations wireless keyboard and laser mouse. Micro Innovations is not the only company that makes a battery-operated wireless keyboard and wireless laser mouse. Micro Innovations is one of the least expensive. When I replaced our computer, I needed to purchase a new keyboard and mouse. I priced other brands and styles of keyboards. Wireless battery-operated keyboard and mouse packages were priced at $60 to $80. Purchased separately, a keyboard and mouse, combined cost around $80 to $100. The wireless keyboard and mouse packages were slightly more expensive.
I have used the MI Micro Innovations brand before. I have been very pleased with my Optical or Laser mouse. The old roller ball mouse continually collects debris, needs cleaning and falls apart or breaks. When I saw the battery-operated wireless keyboard and mouse packages, I was intrigued. Micro Innovations wireless keyboard and mouse package was priced at a modest $40, so I decided to try a battery-operated, wireless keyboard and mouse.
My husband has long complained about the tangle of computer cords behind the the computer. With monitor, hard drive, mouse, keyboard, speakers, printer, DSL box and wireless router, all those cords can get pretty snarled. I don’t typically have trouble with the keyboard cord and plug, but the mouse cord constantly gets caught and stretched. A battery-operated wireless keyboard and mouse seemed a good solution. Of course, using less electricity is a green choice, although I doubt that mouse and keyboard use much electricity.
After several months and dozens of batteries later, I’ve come to these conclusions about the battery-operated wireless keyboard and mouse. Micro Innovations still has the best overall prices. My guess is that any wireless keyboard and wireless mouse is going to use a great deal of batteries. Micro Innovations has fewer gadgets on the mouse and keyboard so their brand may actually use less than the more expensive wireless keyboard and mouse. I like the ease of the cordless, wireless products, also. What I don’t like is that both the wireless keyboard and the wireless mouse need new batteries every week or two. My conclusion is that it’s worth the cost in batteries for the cordless laser mouse, but not the wireless keyboard. I also suggest that you set your computer to ‘sleep’ or turn it off when not in use. This will prolong battery life.
