Alternative Uses for an Ipod
There are plenty of alternative uses for the ipod aside from holding it directly in front of your face to try to look furiously busy in an attempt to avoid talking to someone you want to avoid. The main function of the ipod actually is to listen to music, but it offers many other possibilities that people either don’t think about or don’t know is actually possible. For those souls whom are lagging a bit behind on the ipod’s multiple functions, there are five good uses for it which incidentally do not require you doing anything to alter it in a way that will void its warranty.
One of the most popular alternative uses for an ipod is not too surprisingly podcasting. Pod casting is somewhat like having your own entertainment channel without any worries about the FCC stepping in and interfering with you. This is something they have thankfully kept their nose out of. Once you have made your podcast on whatever it is you desire; music, a personal rant, or a response to another podcast, you can easily post it to your blog or any number of websites bearing the podcast compatibility logo to get it out to the world.
You can also use an ipod as your own personal notebook. You can store addresses, grocery lists, notes taken in class, to do lists, or anything you need to remember quickly and easily meaning that you don’t really need to carry a PDA around anymore. This is something people overlook all the time, an ipod really is nearly an all in one central point for all your entertainment media and practical information used on a daily basis. It sure beats wasting time looking for handwritten lists you often misplace or lose.
Store your pictures on your ipod instead of carrying them around in your wallet. What is good about this is that you can store far more pictures on your ipod that you can carry in your wallet reasonably, and if you want to share them it is far easier than to do than having to locate them in your files to email later or getting prints of originals you need to scan in to share or hand deliver to someone. The other benefit is that you don’t have to take your wallet out of your pocket or purse to show your photos off which also means you lessen the risks of it being lost or snatched.
Finally you can use your ipod as an iphone of sorts to make phone calls with the help of a skype or similar VOIP account. The call quality may not always be the best and you do have to be in a hot-zone, but it is an alternative. Should worst come to worst and you lose your cellphone, an ipod can serve as a backup for outgoing calls fairly decently. This is certainly not its strongest alternative use but it is possible.
