Is the Everyone Votes Channel on the Nintendo Wii Fun?
My boyfriend has been talking about getting a Nintendo Wii video game console for quite some time now, so when his birthday rolled around this month I decided to get him one. The first video game we played on the Nintendo Wii system was Mario Kart, and it was a lot of fun. As we explored a few other game discs, it became apparent that the Wii was a completely different kind of game system and the clever use of the motion-sensitive controller made the games a whole lot of fun. In addition to playing video games that come on Wii Discs, there are “channels” that you can download to your Wii that provide other entertainment choices.
One of the channels you can download to your Nintendo Wii is the “Everyone Votes” channel. In order to download channels to your Wii, you’ll need to have it connected to your home network via a wireless or wired connection. The Everyone Votes channel was a free download, so we decided to give it a try. Upon launching the Everyone Votes channel for the first time, you’ll need to pick which of your Mii characters you’ll want to use to vote. Once you have registered the voters, you will be presented with a series of poll questions, usually with two choices. One of our first poll questions was “Did you first see Star Wars at the movie theater or at home?” but the questions can be about anything from personal habits to political views.
To vote in a poll, you simply pick up your Mii character with the Wii remote control, and drop it on the applicable choice. You will then be ask to predict which answer will get the most votes. I often find that I vote one way but think most people will vote the other way. Then you sit back and wait. Most polls close after a few days, and the next time you open the Everyone Votes channel on your Wii, you will be alerted if any of the results from the polls you voted in are in. If they are, you can see how your vote compared with others in your country or worldwide, and you can also see if your “most vote” prediction was correct. Over time, you can see reports of how your opinion in general compares with other peoples’. It can get very interesting.
In the end, I have enjoyed using the Everyone Votes channel on the Wii console. Although it will only take up a few minutes per day at most, it’s fun, and it’s a good thing to do as a break in between Wii discs. If you have an internet-connected Nintendo Wii, head over to the “Shopping Channel” from your main menu where you will be able to download Everyone Votes for free!
