Ethiopian woman gang raped and beaten to death in UAE

By Ali Al-Shouk

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — Police have arrested four men on suspicion of the gang rape and murder of a young housemaid from Ethiopia.

The suspects were arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body last week on farmland in the Al-Daid region of Sharjah. The victim, an Ethiopian aged in her 20s, had suffered extensive wounds to her head.

Police believe she had been repeatedly struck with rocks until she died.

Sources at Sharjah Police said the woman had been working as a maid at a house in Khor Fakan in Sharjah and disappeared at the beginning of this month.

“She had been working for the three months before she disappeared from the house,” the source said. “She had no reason to disappear and no friends in the area.”

The source added: “Our investigations led us to the main suspect who is an Emirati and who has had a previous conviction for carrying out such a crime.”

During investigations the man confessed to the murder and said he had carried out the attack with three other men.

The source said the main suspect had previously been jailed for the rape and murder of a Pakistani teenage girl and had been sentenced to death for the crime.

However, after serving a number of years in jail he was then released and pardoned after paying blood money to his 13-year-old victim’s family.

According to the preliminary police investigations, the gang watched the housemaid for a number of days before kidnapping her. She was gagged and then repeatedly gang-raped.

Despite escaping from her attackers, the men hunted her down, raped her again and then killed her to prevent her identifying them to police, according to the source.

The men are being held in custody while the investigations continue.

It is a tragedy our poor sisters had to go through this kind of life every day. This is one of the many horrific crimes against our sisters. Since the Melese regime is not doing anything to protect our sisters and people, we Ethiopians should act accordingly to teach these heartless animals until they start to see, think, and feel like a human being. The problem is these murderers noticed that the Melese regime did not do anything to stop any kind of abuses and killings of our people in the past. At least to demand honest investigation and get criminals get punished. However, the incredible silence of the Melese regime encouraged these brainless butchers in the Middle East to gang rape, abuse, lynch, burn, stoned to death, and thrown off buildings for no reason. I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU PEOPLE, I HAD ENOUGH OF THESE HORRIFIC AND BRUTAL KILLINGS OF OUR POOR SISTERS. We need to do something to make ourselves heard by whomever to stop these killings. I don’t understand where the Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch groups are doing. I don’t think they will keep quiet if it was European or American citizen. But I don’t blame them; it is the Melese regime that should be responsible for all this for not protecting and speaking up for its citizens.

  8. Anonymus from Nashville says:

My heart is bleeding for hearing this type of heinous crime being committed to my sisters and daughters by uncivilized thugs. Our sisters and daughters go to other foreign countries because they are unable to work in our country Ethiopia. The main reason for this is the bad and corrupted TPLF government in Ethiopia. The prime perpetrator of this murder is Meles Zenawi and his TPLF. If there were a good government in Ethiopia that thinks about its people and country, this little sister or daughter of ours would not have travelled to serve as a maid in another country. We will continue to hear the same very sad news in the future, unless we dismantle the parasite, non god fearing, vagabond, wicked and weird Meles and his party TPLF from power.

    RIP my sister.

  13. KAKA says:

This is a tragedy , there are official and legal way to deal with this through the consulate and communities directorate in such cases. This incidence is not the first of its kind nor would it be the last. First, the government has to make a strict internal regulations for those agents who are trying to send these teens, so there can be a proper address and they can be traced back. Second, our government should respond quickly to such plights and follow up legal proceedings and make sure that justice is done. Those guys above, the way you state the matter is as if it is the gov’t who is totally responsible. We are dealing with sovereign nations and our government is in no position to force the government of the emirates other than exerting a proper diplomatic pressure. SO in a way the gov’t is tied as to how far it can push the case. But the point is is there a a genuine and persistent follow through to defend the interest of our nations who are loosing their life in gruesome cruelty!I don’t know so I cannot judge. But i feel helpless and suffocated with anger, and engrossed with sadness for my fella citizens who leave their country to change their life and their families.
