Ethiopian Review trip to Humera, Ethiopia (video)

December 18th, 2009 |  |  34 Comments

One of the places I had visited last October when I went to the field to attend a meeting by the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF) was the town of Humera, Ethiopia. For obvious reasons, I could not actually enter the town, but I was right at the Tekeze River, which serves as the border. It was tempting to grab an AK-47 from one of the EPPF fighters who were accompanying me and unload it on the Woyanne military post that was a few meters away from me.

The trip to Humera was an extremely emotional experience for me — looking at my own country from across a river. Woyanne made millions of Ethiopians like me strangers to their country, while sucking the life blood of the nation. The trip made me more determined than ever to muster every energy and knowledge I have to fight and remove this cancer from Ethiopia. – Elias Kifle

I have produced the following video about my trip to Humera.

Elias, what can I say but to thank you not only for opening our eyes to the many possiblities but also for you being an example and showing us what it takes to to get rid of Wayane!
Now, at the very list what we could do for our brave, genuine and so intellegent brother Elias Kifle, is, in my opinon, to honor him with ER’s person of the year!

  8. Humera Ethiopia says:

Is EPPF controlling Humera or TPLF ? I wish you added audio on your video footage and it is maybe for security reason ?

By the way what is the implication of this footage. Geography class or else ?

Where is the boundary between Ethiopia and Sudan ? Does the TPLF forces put check poing on the boundary or what ? I know very well that Isaias does not condone the boundary deal between Beshir and Meles and is he trying to misinform us here maybe ?

We know where our boundary is and please next time report from that line to get my respect.
Thank you in any case !!

Thanks Elias for showing us part our our country. I have never been to that part of the country. It is so beautiful. weyane be romoved by hook or crook and the Ethiopian people will once again be masters of their own land. It is a matter of time. Who would have thought the mighty Derg regeme will collapse so quickly? weyane is like a tree whose roots are being eaten up by thermites and is about to fall down any moment. In order to speed up the demise of weyane, we all have to work together as one people and as one nation. Unity is strength!!

Elias first I will like to say thank for information. I was born the town of Humera, but today Humera not same as used to be full of tigray people liberation front and the main place where weyane base army to control the Eritrea border. Did you know Humera tax can feed the whole tigray population, because Humera has good land, can produce sesame, cotton stuff. that is the reason weyane took Humera as part of state of tigray and bring more tigray people to live and the Wolkait have moved to gonder. I am so happy and proud of you. May God bless you.

why did you not try to fire a single bullet at Weyane ? – assuming you were NEAR the boarder.

This would have caused the invasion & the ultimate demise of defeated Eritrea at the hands of almighty Weyane !

Every one, even knocked out Shabia knows this.

I was a woyanne until I started to read this website. I feel sad for the wasted times that I spent in this cancerous organization. Most woyanne supporters do not know that woyanne is destroying Ethiopia and it is using them to do it. The ultimate woyanne plan is to dismember Ethiopia by ethnically dividing it. With Ethiopia then destryoed, they will fly to safe haven to enjoy the billions they exploited from Ethiopia and there will be no Ethiopia to hunt them down and bring them to justice. The other half of their supporters know woyannes plan but they go along as long as they get firifari

As the Ethiopian people are getting sick and tired of your exploitations , they will rise and chase you like cat would chase a rat then you will be like a hamburger also pushed by Eritrea. 32. Assta B. Gettu says:

    My little world!

In my little world, full of wonder and excitement, Elias Kifle has earned that historical and biblical name – Caleb the explorer and Caleb the comforter of his people.

When Moses sent twelve strong young men to explore the land of Canaan, Caleb was only forty years old, and for forty days, these twelve men explored most of the land of Canaan and came back with a bad report that discouraged and frustrated the Hebrews while they were at the Desert of Paran.

Most of the twelve men told Moses and the rest of the Hebrews that they could not easily defeat the people of Canaan because they were very powerful and they lived in very large and fortified cities, and not only that but those tall and warrior descendants of the Anak people also lived there.

When the Hebrews heard such alarming news and especially the existence of the Anak among the Canaanites, they were terrified, extremely frustrated, and they were shouting and yelling at each other; however, Caleb stood up, not Joshua, and “silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possessions of the land, for we can certainly do it.’” (Numbers 13:1-29)

Like Caleb, Elias Kifle, to explore the border of Ethiopia, went with some Ethiopian Freedom Fighters, surveyed the town of Humera from a distance, gathered valuable information, took pictures of the town, and saw the depth and width, strength and weakness of the town and finally he might have been convinced that the town of Humera is totally occupied by new comers from the arid land of the Tigray region, and, unfortunately, the inhabitants of Humera, mainly the Amhara people, have been displaced and driven out of their land and sent away, some to Armacheho and others to Dabat, Debark, and Belesa.

As Caleb stood up in front of Moses and encouraged his people that there was hope to possess the land of Canaan, Elias Kifle is also standing up in front of millions of us, his audiences and telling his Ethiopian friends in the Diaspora and at home that we should go up and take possession of, not only the town of Humera, but also the entire country of Ethiopia. Throughout his career since I know him vicariously, Elias Kifle has the spirit of Caleb, a spirit of courage, a spirit of hope, and a spirit of encouragement.

The eleven Hebrew explorers that broke the hearts of their people clearly represent some of the coward Ethiopian journalists who day and night broadcast discouraging news against the Ethiopian Freedom Fighters in favor of the corrupt Woyanne government, but we know the spirit of Caleb silenced the other eleven Hebrew explorers and the broken spirits of most of the Hebrew people. In the same way, the spirit of Elias Kifle, and the spirits of the Ethiopian Freedom Fighters would certainly silence the empty and oppressive voices of the Woyanne political cadres.

What would Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) and his wife Jezebel say when they hear that Elias Kifle, with a death warrant on his head, has intentionally penetrated the most fertile, secret, and heavily guarded land of Humera they stole from the Amhara people and gave it to their own tribes without compensating the native people of the Humera town? Their desperations to get out of Ethiopia safely before Elias Kifle get them unexpectedly as he was able to obtain the pictures of their wild daughter few months ago and now the picture of their secret cow – the Humera town, their frustration about the carelessness of their security guards and their border controllers is immense.

I can feel your emotions, Elias, when you stood near Humera town, looking at some of the mountains of Ethiopia, your country, and as you survey the land and the rivers of Humera, you saw some of the children of Humera swimming in the running water of the Humera river and I know how much you wanted to talk to some of those innocent kids but you have to know their language – Tigrigna. These are not the Amhara kids; the Amhara children are expelled or killed by Meles and his wife Jezebel when their parents resisted giving up their lands to the strangers – the Tegarues. I wish I had joined you with legions or battalions of army and some mechanized ground troops and fighter jets to crash the Woyanne government for ever and put you as the new democratic leader of the Ethiopian people until the people get ready to vote for you or for someone else whom they trust or believe he/she can do the job.

I am blessed I live in the time of such a rare individual, a selfless person who dares to explore the land of the oppressive Woyanne regime with a camera and a pen in his hand, not a gun, and that person is Elias Kifle. To accomplish such multiple jobs, he has never even asked some donation to cover some of his expenses for his long trip and a hard work in the enemy territories; of course, the enemies here are not the Ethiopian people but the Woyanne death squad.

May God bless you, Elias, for such great work of yours!
