Addis Ababa (Walta Woyanne Information Center) – Foreign Affairs Minister Seyoum Mesfin said the pride obtained from the national flag could be maintained by eliminating poverty through ensuring development and good governance in Ethiopia.
Following discussions with stakeholders today, the minister said the national flag is a symbol that reflects the voluntary coexistence of nations and nationalities under a democratic order. Children and the youth should be brought up with love and respect to the country and the flag, he stressed.
According to Seyoum,a decision has been reached to celebrate Ethiopian Flag Day on July 5 so that it could involve all stakeholders. The minister further called on the public and stakeholders to take part in the celebration which would mainly be marked in educational institutions.
A draft proclamation is under preparation to annually dedicate a national flag day, he revealed.
The minister also on the occasion received flags and pins donated by Hayat Real Estate Development Enterprise Manager Ayalew Tessema and passed them to governmental and non-governmental organizations..
The minister handed out 100,000 flags to the Ministry of Defense and 500,000 flags to the Ethiopian Millennium Festival National Council Secretariat.

Ethiopians’ flag is unique and pure; it rflects harmony and tenacity. It is what it has been for many mayny years and it will remain so for the next centuries.

All along weyanes thought that the Ethiopian flag was an amara symbol ; however we know the Ethiopian flag was started by Yohannes , and later, after some modification( red top/green to), it was adopted by Minilik. This narrow weyane leaders may have now been told that the flag is a tigre symbiol , and and not amara symbol as they thought , which in turn may have led their arrogant legese chenawi to recant his infamous remark of ” the flag nothing better than a rag”.

Thanks to God! We are able to listen the importance of national flag from the mouth of Woyanes. Remember! What Melles said about the national flag some 15 years ago. What he said was ” KECHERKU TSEB YELENIM.” I hope we will see more.

Honoring the flag requires one to respect the freedom of the people, protect, and defend the sovereignty of the country. By the way Elias, Do you know Ethiopia has 27 flags according to weyane. If you see the weyane website Ethiopia is surrounded by many flags that seem like African continent. According to weyane, weyane has divided all the country respect to their ethinical group and given and awarded them their own flags. Weyane’s divide and rule started by dividing the whole country as oromia, tigray, amahra, afar, and so on. All these sub contries have designated flags that is given by weyane. Anyways, I don’t exactly know which flag is going to be appear during celebration. I am hoping the main Ethiopian falg green, yellow and red has been already denied by meles 17 years ago. In addition to that the so called forien minister a representative of crime minister meles has not specified anything about the flag. So I am expecting they might are going to have a celebreation for the TPLF weyane flag. The other poor business strategy done by weyane is that these flags were made by spending million dollars, so that the TPLF officials could get their cut on the side along with the other million dollars they steal everyday. So this is a set up to make some money on the side that is orchestrated by weyane.

If I convince myself to see positively the purpose of distributing the flag, I would say that the Woyanes are finally coming to their sense respecting the flag. Unfortunately something tells me that this is one of their tricks to mitigate the anger the Ethiopian people have against them. If they are serious they must revise or abolish Article 39 of the Constitution that allows all Nation/Nationalities to secede. Less than that I do not take them seriously whatever they do about the flags.
This must be a big joke. What flag are they talking about? The flag they degraded and ridiculed or the phony one they created?
As far as I know The Ethiopian Flag Is In Exile. It will return home after liberation.
Speaking of flag here, forget the joke that Woyane loves the flag. Just for the record, all political parties who want to come to the Ethiopian helm of power in the future should understand that we don’t want our flag to be adultrated. All future governemnts of Ethiopia should leave the flag alone. The Ethiopian flag is only tri- colour:
Green Yellow and Red. Nothing less nothing more!
Please don’t put any additional garbage on it. I blame not only Woyane for adulteration of the flag, but also Derg for trying to put a little blue mark on it. Emperor Hailessilassie put a Lion on the flag only for limited use in palace compounds and for special celebrations only . He didn’t force the adulteration of the tri-colour flag anywhere outside his palace. It was Green, Yellow and Red every where including schools.
So those future Ethiopian governments that come to power after Woyane is gone should take notice from now! They should respect the tri-colour flag. No adulteration please!
