The earliest Christian bible discovered in Ethiopia

July 5th, 2010 |  |  59 Comments

The world’s earliest illustrated Christian book has been saved by a British charity which located it at a remote Ethiopian monastery.

The incredible Garima Gospels are named after a monk who arrived in the African country in the fifth century and is said to have copied them out in just one day.

Beautifully illustrated, the colours are still vivid and thanks to the Ethiopian Heritage Fund have been conserved.

Abba Garima arrived from Constantinople in 494 AD and legend has it that he was able to copy the gospels in a day because God delayed the sun from setting.

A page from the Garima Gospels - the world's oldest hristian book found in a remote monastary in Ethiopia[A page from the Garima Gospels - the world's oldest Christian book found in a remote monastery in Ethiopia]

The incredible relic has been kept ever since in the Garima Monastery near Adwa in the north of the country, which is in the Tigray region at 7,000 feet.

Experts believe it is also the earliest example of book binding still attached to the original pages.

The survival of the Gospels is incredible considering the country has been under Muslim invasion, Italian invasion and a fire in the 1930s destroyed the monastery’s church.

They were written on goat skin in the early Ethiopian language of Ge’ez.

There are two volumes which date from the same time, but the second is written in a different hand from the first. Both contain illustrations and the four Gospels.

Though the texts had been mentioned by the occasional traveller since the 1950s, it had been thought they dated from the 11th century at the earliest.

Carbon dating, however, gives a date between 330 and 650 – which tantalisingly overlaps the date Abba Garima arrived in the country.

So the first volume could be in his hand – even if he didn’t complete the task in a day as the oral tradition states.

The charity Ethiopian Heritage Fund that was set up to help preserve the treasures in the country has made the stunning discovery.

It was also allowed incredibly rare access to the texts so experts could conserve them on site.

It is now hoped the Gospels will be put in a museum at the monastery where visitors will be able to view them.

Blair Priday from the Ethiopian Heritage Fund said: ‘Ethiopia has been overlooked as a source of these fantastic things.

‘Many of these old Christian relics can only be reached by hiking and climbing to remote monasteries as roads are limited in these mountainous regions.

‘All the work on the texts was done in situ and everything is reversible, so if in future they can be taken away for further conservation we won’t have hindered that.

‘The pages had been crudely stitched together in a restoration in the 1960s and some of the pages wouldn’t even turn. And they were falling to pieces.

‘The Garima Gospels have been kept high and dry which has helped preserve them all these years and they are kept in the dark so the colours look fresh.

‘This was the most astounding of all our projects and the Patriarch, the head of the Ethiopian Church, had to give his permission.

‘Most of the experts did the work for nothing.

‘We are currently undertaking other restoration programmes on wall paintings and religious texts.

‘We believe that preserving Ethiopia’s cultural heritage will help to increase visitor revenue and understanding of the extraordinary history of this country

This is what Ethiopian Christianity is all about, preserving the most precious religious relics for the next generation? Indeed, most of our religious relics have been destroyed by our arch enemies, the Muslims. I don’t know how many Ethiopian Arab Muslims will be uncomfortable by the discovery of such ancient Gospels of Jesus Christ copied by one of the Nine Saints, Abba Gerima or Aba Isaac (Yisaq). Ethiopian Arab Muslims always want to belittle the Ethiopian Christian history because these Arab Muslims don’t have any piece of history of their own. They have tried many times to distort the Ethiopian Christian history by plagiarizing our Christian history and adding it to their Quran history. Ethiopian Christian history is connected to our Christian Gospels history as Muslims history is connected to their Quran fabricated by Muhammad. Have archeologists discovered any piece of Quran or Hadith in Mecca or anywhere in the world? They don’t even bother to look after it since there is no value in it, and since it is few years old.

I am sure the Gospels of Aba Gerima will not be the last book to be discovered; there are other historical objects hidden somewhere in some of the Ethiopian monasteries. If he finds some millions of dollars, Abba Paulos will never hesitate to sell the Gospels of Abba Gerima as he (Abba Paulos) had tried before to sell the Ark of the Covenant; therefore, the British Charity should not hand the Gospels of Abba Gerima to this greedy Patriarch, Abba Paulos.

Thank you, British Charity, for taking care of Abba Gerima’s indispensable Gospels, and I hope your research on Ethiopian Christian relics will continue.

    WOW!this is amazing!

The finding of the Holy Gospels partly serves as a proof that Axum kingdom become a Christian state way before the western world knew about Christianity. But i wonder why it only has the 4 Gospels, what about all those Epistles written by Paul and other Disciples??

  3. Dabtaraw says:

Hmm…What then? It is a long established fact that Ethiopia is one of the oldest Orthodox christian country. However some 50% of Ethiopians are currently adherents of the Muslim faith. This means cultural and religious richness and diversity which under good governance and good government may unilaterally lead to multiple innovations and reactivities.

So one should necessarily think as to how to convert long standing old diverse cultural and social capitals in to a vibrant modern society of equals under sustainable well being for self and the entire country as a whole.

Otherwise counting endless fragmentary evidences from the left, right, north, south, christian, Muslim, Waqqeffata, etc. as an end in itself but doing nothing of practical substances in the way and direction of practically pulling the long wretched 80 million people out of poverty and misery may seem a mockery.

No wonder that dictatorship is mushrooming in Ethiopia by each passing days while we are digging deep down underground in order to discover the magic wand that may shake the ripe Manna from the heavens to rain on all Ethiopians day and night like always. No disrespect meant though.:)

    Response to Hahu,

Apostle Paul wrote all the Epistles around the sometime as the disciples wrote these four gospels. By the way, Apostle Paul was the first one that preached Christianity to non-Jewish Which means he was also responsible for the spread Christianity into Africa as much as Rome,Greece and other European and Asian Kingdoms of that time.He was also the one that wrote about Christianity in non-Hebrew languages way before these gospels were translated.

So, it’s quite amusing to me why we would have only 4 gospels with out the other epistles written by the Apostle who spread Christianity outside of Jerusalem.

And no i don’t believe videos posted on you tube by random people,i don’t take everything i watch to heart.

    Dear Hahu,

Instead of believing what your own forefathers has written while living in ardent spiritualism, you tend to rely on videos at youtube.com, hear yourself, from all of the places, you picked youtube, shame on you, open your mind and be ready to hear out the truth about the real Christianity and the meaning of the Holy Gospels, I know truth hurts but if you try to see and hear things, the Gospel is lucid enough to be understood and Christianity is pure enough to live in and die for because it doesn’t require you to take other’s life but requires you to give up your life for the sake of others. Now tell me, what’s wrong with that. And the book that is now discovered as one of the earliest transcripts of the Holy Bible, it gives a good lesson how we Ethiopians as one nation lived by the word of Christ Jesus, chosen enough to shelter Saints persecuted by their own nations, we lost our glory as Ethiopians after we opened our doors and hearts for strange religions or let me put it this way, “for a strange religion” that stabbed our back after we sheltered its so-called prophet’s family. Shame on us.

    Hana,

Do U realize that Paul was a big liar? He is of course the father of christianity and not Christ himself. Christ NEVER created a new religion. He was a jew through and through. The jews might not have believed in him as the messaiah but that is another story altoghether. For. ex. how could Paul get the right to call himself an apostel when the true apostoles were those who walked and talked with Christ for 3 and a halv years? If u read ur bible carefully U´ll see that after Judas fell, the apostoles decided to elect another one so their number continues to be 12. The one they chose, and God accepted was Mathaias. So yes, it´s good his books were not included. One can talk a lot about Paul but for now this suffices as a beginning for U to continue to study the man and find out how conceited he was.

  9. Assta B. Gettu says:

    My dear Ethiopian #6,

Thank you for your heart-felt comment, and I am sure your comment is based on your passionate feelings you have had for your country as the Holy Scripture says: “For the zeal of your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen on me.” (Psalm 69:9)

As you know, our country has been recently inundated with foreign inferior goods – petty religions, and one of theses inferior goods is Islam that is destroying our country by allowing its followers to have multiple births, outnumbering our Ethiopian Christians. We must have a new constitution that prohibits Ethiopian Arab Muslims from marrying more than one wife, and our new constitution must also allow all Ethiopian monks to get married and have children; in this way we can bring up the Ethiopian Christian population. Other wise, Ethiopia, within a short time, will be a Muslim country, will have a Muslim prime minister, and all Ethiopian historical Churches, such as Lalibela, Axum, Ambagishen Mariam, Asebot Gedam, Debre-Lebanos Gedam, Waldiba Gedam, Debre Damo Gedam, Abba Gerima Gedam, and many other holy places, will be converted into Muslim Mosques or Muslim museums. And we will see the Muslim Crescent, the symbol of allah, the moon god, all over the Ethiopian Christian buildings that would be changed into thousands of minarets, and we can see millions of bilals or azans calling Muslims for prayer five times a day in their ear-deafening microphones.

If Muslims dominate Ethiopia, then Ethiopia will be one of the worst backward countries like many other Arab-Muslim countries; have you seen any advanced Muslim countries in the world? None! Therefore, if we need progress, we must get rid of this “strange religion” that came to our country with strange people from Mecca. We know how hard the citizens of Mecca, the Jews and the other Arabs, fought against the false prophet Muhammad who tried to impose his false religion, Islam, upon them, but Muhammad slaughtered them all and subdued the rest to accept Islam without their will. And that is why Muhammad sent his family to Ethiopia so that they would not be killed by the citizen of Mecca for accepting the false religion – Islam. But we didn’t know that these few Arab Muslims who came to our country would outnumber us today, would try to destroy our identity, Christianity, and would bring birth to a cursed person – Gragn Muhammad – who destroyed our indispensable documents such as Abba Gerima’s Gospels.

We really do not know how many Gragn Muhammds these Ethiopian Arab Muslims are going to give us if we let them multiply in our land, and it is not easy to predict such events will happen unless we wake up and tell the Ethiopian Arab Muslims “back up and stop!

Once again, thank you, Mr. /Ms. /Ethiopian for your very impressive comment.

  12. Hana says:

    Response to Ane,

There many ways we Christians know that Apostle Paul was a true Apostle.
    1.The testimony that’s written on Acts 9:4-16.

2.We also know that Paul had a strong relationship with the disciples in Jerusalem and Apostle Peter even came to visit him in Rome. Paul also had a strong ties to the mother church in Jerusalem (established by the disciples that were with Jesus) and brought lots of materials.

3.Ananias a high priest at the church of Christ in Damascus, was instructed by our Lord Christ to heal Paul from his blindness and baptize him. He testified that Paul was called to become an apostle for the Gentiles.

The main thing is though Paul didn’t preach about himself or forced people to follow his life style nor made empty promises based on himself. All the letters he wrote, all the churches he establish and all his teachings are based on the 4 gospels written by the other disciples in Jerusalem. His Call was to preach about Jesus our savior to the gentiles which is exactly what he did.

In the old testament God said, he chose Israel to be the light of all nations and God also said he would make Abraham the Father of many nations. Thus, Paul preached about Christ, the Messiah that was promised to be born of virgin Mary and save the mankind from their sins. Thus, through faith Abraham is our father and Israel is chosen nation whether you like it or not.

To answer your question, the disciples only chose Matthew to make them 12, I believe it’s because the Jewish customs required them to be 12 which represents the 12 tribes of ISRAEL.And Christianity is not a new religion, its a way of life that have existed since Abraham.

How do you go about saying “Christ never created a new religion”?. Who is Christ to you and how do you describe Him exactly?

To Christians, Christ is the Lord that presented Himself in the form of flesh in order to fulfill all the promises and prophesies made in the old testament including the Crucifixion. So that mankind can repent from their sins, receive salvation and enter the glory of God. In Revelation 22:13 he says “I’m Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but there was never any prophet by the name of mohammed ever mentioned.

  13. Assta B. Gettu says:

    My dear Ane #7,

St. Paul, who taught vigorously that all men are equal in the eyes of the Almighty God when he said in his letter to the Colossians: “Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all” (3:11) is one of my favorite Apostles.

As to Paul’s apostleship, Jesus himself has confirmed that Paul is his chosen apostle: “But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man [Paul] is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel.” (Acts 9:15) Jesus has specifically revealed to Paul as Paul was persecuting the Church of Christ and told what Paul had to do in the future: “Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you.” (Acts 26:16)

Paul himself confirms that he is an apostle: “Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God….” (Romans 1:1) And again St. Paul says: “Paul, an apostle – sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father….” (Galatians 1:1)

In fact, one of the Apostles, St. Peter witnesses that the writings of St. Paul have the same importance and values like the other Scriptures: “Bear in mind that our lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.” (2nd Peter 3:15-16)

Paul’s writings, inspired by the Holy Spirit, could be very hard for some hard-headed people like Ane who jumped and dubbed St. Paul “a liar,” as St. Peter says that “ignorant and unstable people distort the Scriptures as to their destruction.” In this case, the ignoramus Ane is incurring devastating destructions for calling the man of God, St. Paul, a liar.

St. Luke attests that the Holy Spirit has chosen St. Paul to go and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ: ‘“Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them’. So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” (Acts 13:2-3)

Jesus Christ gave the Apostles the power to perform miracles: “He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 10:1)

St. Paul, like the other Apostles, had performed numerous miracles as he was preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ: “…for I am not in the least inferior to the ‘supper-apostles,’ even though I am nothing. The things that mark an apostle – signs, wonders and miracles – were done among you with great perseverance.” (2nd Corinthians 12:11-12)

For example, St. Luke has recorded some of the miracles St. Paul performed: “In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, ‘Stand up on your feet!’ At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonina language, ‘The gods have come down to us in human form!’” (Acts 14:8-11) I can go on and on listing all the miracles St. Paul had performed as a chosen Apostle of Jesus Christ, but for now, let me stop here.

As for the unbeliever Ane, I ask her/him to understand St. Paul had worked harder than any of the other Apostles: “I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea and in danger from false brothers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches….If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.” (2nd Corinthians 11:22-28)

There would be no Catholic Church, no Orthodox Church, no Protestant Church, and no other Christian faiths without St. Paul. St. Paul is the only Apostle who cemented the Christian Church on firm ground, and no person, Ane or any other power could destroy the Church of Jesus Christ for whom the Apostles gave their lives.

  14. Ane says:

    Hana,

I think U got the wrong impression of me. First of all, have I said anything about Mohammed or Islam in my entry? I don´t know where u got that from. Secondly, I for one held Paul in very high regard before like U and many millions of others but now I know better. Yes, Paul as the persecutor of the messianic jews (I don´t call them christians) was stopped on his way to Damascus and blinded. After that terrorizing event, who wouldn´t give up and believe? He was given a second chance and made to stop persecuting the people of God. But I believe after that event passed, Paul started to see himself as someone more special than he really was. It went to his head, so to speak, and even started to call himself an apostle. Remember the apostles are the ones who will sit on 12 thrones with christ in heaven and are going to judge us all as the bible asserts. So it´s not only a matter of being 12 in number just to fulfill the traditional 12 tribes of Israel merely symbolically. The book of Acts is a book written by a gentile follower of Paul (Luke) who was a kind of reporter and not so knowledgeable in the jewish faith. I don´t want to accuse Luke of any malicious intent but his books both praise and unintentionally reveal Pauls lies. For example the election of matthew as the twelfth apostle is found in the book of acts. Thanx for that to Luke. So Paul had no right to call himself an apostle. The relationship with the disciples in Jerusalem, you mentioned, was stormy to say the least. Remember he was accused of teaching the jews all over the gentile world not to curcumsize themselves? He even says it himself in his own books that curcumcision is meaningless. Among many other anti jewish things he taught. That´s why, James, the brother of Christ told him to purify himself in the temple and offer the neccessary animal sacrifice which he accepted while he taught others that animal sacrifice is done away with. There U have one of his hypocricies for ex. Paul was a kind of self hating jew who through his writings opened the gulf between the jews and Christ (who himself was a jew) and led to the historical animosity of christianity toward the jews which culminated in pogroms and massmurder of jews in a grand scale because the church taught the jews are the murderers of Christ. That´s why I said in my previous entry that Paul is the father of christianity and not Christ. For Gods sake, christians today don´t even know his real name was Yahushuah, shortened to Yeshua, which in hebrew means YAHWEH SAVES and not the greek version “Jesus”. The endorsement of Paul by Peter is a simple human mistake by Peter because if U read what Paul wrote about Peter it´s mostly disrespectful. Christianity is not a religion that existed since Abraham, but Judaism is. Christ IS the manifestation of the prophecies in the Hebrew bible (that which christians erroniously call the old testament). In other words he´s the fulfillment of Judaism and not a creator of a new religion called christianity which calls itself the new Israel. So I agree with U there, that Israel is the chosen nation and will remain so until the end of days. How I see christ is exactly as U described him only I stopped calling myself a christian. I rather want to say I`m a messaianic jew. Maybe not a jew by blood but by faith in the messiah.

    Dear Ane,

You acted like you know better about Christianity and feels like a person of faith, but bad news, you ain’t. You first stepped down from the ladder of faith when you actually called one of the greatest leaders of early Christianity, you despised the very reason that made St Paul one of the most important Saints in history, yes he was an arrogant and self-righteous person who was out to get the Christians but he was chosen by Christ Himself and made one of the arch saints of Christianity after persecuting many Christians, but do you even know why he was against Christians, it was because he was a true believer of the Old Testament and he thought Christ was preaching teachings contrary to the Old Testament till he realized the the teachings of Christ was actually refining the early books, God appreciated his intentions and led him to the understanding of the New Testament that Paul actually died for. As for you, the only community in this senseless world that thinks of Paul negatively while “trying to look like Christians” is the gay community because Paul’s teachings extremely affects what they stand for i.e. same sex relationship, he is the main figure in the Holy Bible who defined how we are supposed to live in the secular world while attaining our Spiritualism. He told us to the extent of how to manage our married life and how we can live in chastity if we are made for that. He put a great emphasis on “One Adam for one Eve” natural law given to us by our creator. So, even though I hate to Judge people for the very reason of fear not to be judged myself, i will step one forward and would like to say to you to see on what dangerous ground you are standing on. As for me, I am a proud Orthodox Christian who believes every single word of St Paul and will always aspire to be blessed by his hand who Jesus has made countless of miracles by. May God forgive us all.

    Ethiopian,

It´s very strange U started ur adress to me by the respectful word dear and then instead of replying to what you don´t agree with me on specifically, jumped to name calling. U can call paul a saint if u want to, that´s ur prerogative but the name calling reveals my post hit a nerve. For ur info. the whole bible is against homosexuality. That belief is not exclusively pauls. As far as I´m concerned maybe Paul himself was gay. Or maybe U´re gay. But if u got that idea from my mention of the circumcision, then it´s something really wrong with U. I mentioned circumcision because it was God´s command to Abraham to circumcise his male children as a symbolic act that they belong to God. And when paul advices, EVEN the jews, not to circumcise their children because it´ll profit them nothing, don´t U think that makes him antijew, anti Abraham and ultimately anti God himself? As for ur assertion that it´s only the gay community against paul´s teachings is patently wrong. A lot of women, jewish people etc. have a hard time with Paul. This is just one of the ways to stop people from talking about this issue. My intention is to broaden the discussion so that our faith in God gets stronger by removing unneccessary and time and energy consuming blabber that Paul has filled the bible with and go at the centre of the matter. And don´t worry I´m not standing on no dangerous ground. Christ himself said not all who call me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. And the bible says love God with all ur heart and MIND. We´ve the right to exercise ur mind too and not only blindly believe. Blessed by pauls hand? LOL the guy is DEAD remember? But if u wish more info on this I suggest U google: Yeshua/Jesus and judaism versus Paul and christianity.

  19. Hana says:

    Response to Ane,

why i included Islam on my response to you is that many muslims i have encountered talk about Paul in the same tone as you have done.

Paul was called to be an apostle and he had every right and testimony to call himself an apostle. It is not up to us to make judgments about apostle Paul’s ministry. As far as i’m concerned Paul did a great service to Christianity and is responsible for it’s impact and spread world wide.

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:’ Luke 6;37

The other thing is, Paul didn’t disrespect Peter, but he challenged him in a loving way on two accounts.

1.Circumcision: In the old testament ( which Jewish believe in), God instructed circumcision to be performed in the Jewish world. This is a law in the Jewish faith. Since all the apostles came from a Jewish background, they wanted to enforce this on the new Christ followers from the gentile world.Paul(as apostle called to preach to the gentile world) was furious at this and he challenged them. This doesn’t mean he had a stormy relationship with them. He said we are saved by faith and confession of Christ not by performing circumcision. Remember gentiles were pagans and had their own laws, customs and traditions. and Paul didn’t want to force them to follow Jewish customs instead he taught them about salvation through Christ who was crucified for our sins. Christians are not saved by Christ’s circumcision, but rather by what He did on the cross. The cross is the center piece of everything in Christianity.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10;9-10

Even Christ himself calls the Pharisees hypocrites for only enforcing the laws on people not believing in Him or even the law. Read Matthew 23.Indeed when Christ was revealed in the flesh, it was the fulfillment of the old testament. But the pharisees & scribes who pretended to be die heart followers of Judaism didn’t believe in the Messiah. But Paul believed and spread the word.

    2. The Status of the new Christ follower:
Paul (as apostle to gentiles) insisted the new followers of Christ from the gentile world to have the same status as the Christian Jews.Peter on the other hand was living a double life. When Peter was with Jewish Christians, he would eat with them not with the gentile Christians. But if there was no Jewish person around then, Peter would eat with the gentiles. This is because i think Jewish felt they had a higher status and were not to eat with gentiles.correct me if i am wrong, but i think not to eat with a gentile is also a law in the Jewish faith.

In Christ we are one body, we are all equal. And as Christians we are to follow Christ’s life style and be humble, forgiving and righteous as He was.Christ sat& ate with sinners, slaves and everyone that pharisees disapproved of.So when Peter was claiming Jewish had some sort of superiority to gentile it was a complete contrast of Christ’s teaching. One again Paul had a good point.

Christianity does not call itself a new Israel, read the book of Revelation 21. it says the first heaven and first earth will pass away and a new Jerusalem will come down from from God as a bride adorned for her husband.and Yes God has many different names in the old testaments Adonia, Johova, Yahweh and many others.A christian that reads his Bible would know all those names.

May God open your eyes and help you see the truth, the life and salvation that is found only in Christianity.

So many people who have fallen pray to this massive evil-backed campaign are unknowingly supporting this agenda.

    Kebede Ali #21

I ask you to write my name properly. My precious and correct name is Assta B. Gettu, not attsa; you must also learn how to capitalize proper nouns.

Who gave you the idea that we all were Abeshas? I am sure those bastard Arab Muslims, children of the rapist Muhammad, gave you the impression that we were Abeshas. Didn’t they? We all are Ethiopian Christians, living in a Christian land – Ethiopia.

Contrary to what you said, we Ethiopian Christians can feed ourselves if we can get rid of the Ethiopian Arab Muslims who are consuming our scarce resource to feed their multitude of children, children hatched from different wanton Muslim women who have nothing to do but to breed like a dog and fill the earth with unhealthy Muslim children – the future Jihadists, terrorists, and anti-Christ.

You wrote I am a bad guidance to others; you are wrong! I’m giving a lasting lesson to my Ethiopian Christians never to trust the Ethiopian Arab Muslims since they have betrayed the Ethiopian Christians two times, even more, and they will betray us at any time: they are just waiting for the right time to come. God forbid, if war starts between Sudan and Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Arab Muslims will stick with the Muslim Sudanese government. They would pass valuable information to their Muslim brothers and sisters in Sudan to hurt the Ethiopian Christians. Knowing their propensities, Emperor Hails Selassie always kept the Ethiopian Arab Muslims at bay.

    Abisho-Atefaris #11,

I have never abused any substance in my life, but you may have; other wise how do you know those substances?

    Gelaw #15,

I am a zealous follower of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, and to answer your question, Muslim religion has nothing to do with the discovery of Abba Gerima’s ancient Gospels, but I know for sure Ethiopian Arab Muslims will be unhappy to see such Christian Gospels because they do not believe in Jesus Christ who inspired the Apostles to write his Gospels.

Ethiopian Christians have always been one family, but the Ethiopian Arab Muslims who are now enjoying life under Meles Seitanawi have many times tried to destroy this family of God – the Ethiopian Christians. And I’m working hard to protect this Ethiopian Christian family from extinction as the result of Muhammadans’ deep-rooted hatred toward the Ethiopian Christians. Is my motive clear to you now?

    Ft says #17,

That is true; Jesus never taught hatred, but why do you Muslims hate Jesus by refusing to recognize him as the creator of the world and as the only way to the Father? Why do you Muslims say: “When the sacred months are passed, kill those who join other gods wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for them with every kind of ambush….”? (Quran 9:5)

Yes, Jesus is love; however, Arab Muslims teach violence, greed, lust, and submission to Muhammad: you train Jihadists and terrorists to fulfill what the Quran says – kill the Christians and the Jews and enjoy life in paradise.

Indeed, I am full of anger, full of hatred, and full of unimaginable declaration of war against the false religion Islam that has been spreading all over this Christian land of Ethiopia by the agents of the Saudis and the Egyptians – the Ethiopian Arab Muslims.

  23. Hana says:

    Response to Assta B. Gettu,

I agree with you when you said Jesus is love. Yes, Christianity is all about Love. Read 1corinthians 13 and see what Apostle Paul says about love and how he connects it to Christian lifestyle.

By the way,no one has won any war by war, but through love and respect you can conquer any person’s heart. That is what Jesus did. Even though the pharisees and scribes tried to do everything in their power to prevent Christ’s ministry from reaching the people and tried to kill Him in almost all occasions, but He still didn’t wish anything bad to them. As the Son of God He had the power to do anything including to kill them in the way as God destroyed Babylon or Sodom or gomera, but He did not.Even though they ordered His torture and His death by crucifixion, He still said “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”Luke 23;34

And do not worry so much about these muslims taking over Ethiopia. If you truly believe in God and His promises then read Deuteronomy 28;1-15.God says for those who believe in Him and abide by His commandments, He will make them the Head and not the tail.

“And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:” Deuteronomy 28;13

There is a reason to why in every country where there are Christians and muslims, it’s always the Christians that rule the country. Now, even though the muslims in Ethiopia outnumber the Christians they will not rule the country, because it’s not God’s will to allow His followers to be a tail. That is to say if the Christians pray for their country, pray for God’s mercy, repent from their sins and walk the Christian walk.

But since you say Jesus is Love, show love to any person regardless of their beliefs. Because if we are going to perform the great commission God gave us, then we must conquer their hearts with love, sharing the word of God and baptizing them in the name of Father,Son and Holy Spirit and make more disciples to Jesus.

    God bless you

  25. Ethiopian says:

    Hana,

I believe what you ‘re saying, it is true that the power of love can conquer hatred. But also there is inevitable truth that our own actions, weakness of faith and our submission to the secular world as we know it will make us tails regardless of the purity of our beloved religion. Ethiopia has never fallen pray to western indoctrination when we had strong leaders both in the Church and in the political arena, they have always tried love and reconciliation before tapping into war, they have gone to the extent of marrying their children with people who are so different from our faith but look now what we have, the majority of the youth is spending money after work to chew “chat”, the others taken into Protestantism which by itself means “protesting” dreadfully trying to claim to have accepted Jesus while leaving a religion that truly teaches about Jesus’ true divinity for which countless of our saints have given their life for and the rest of our generation is trying to be liberal and atheist thinking its the new sign of modernization. Look at Egyptian Copts, they are not heads anymore but tails living in unimaginable fear of persecution and executions after they made a bad choice of trading their country and freedom in exchange of support from the muslims to drive out the pagans who were a threat at that time, but as always the muslims betrayed them, subdued them, burned down their monasteries and Churches, did things the pagans didn’t even tried to do. They stabbed them from the back and we didn’t learn from them and we got the same. The pagans never claimed to believe in God but the muslims who yawl as believers of God and advocates of love murdered any non-muslims on their way. And now we are facing the same fate, while the world is becoming very secular and putting arms to defend its respective religions of any kind, the muslims are becoming more Islams and more hostiles. The more we distance ourselves from the very core of our values as Christians, the more we are handing out our identity, Christians from all over the world have become so docile to the lies of evil to the extent of preaching strange doctrines like accepting same-sex marriage and abortion to claiming Judas Iscariot was also a saint and other unimaginable teachings that disgust me enough to mention here. The funny part is that the only religion that lives by its book and original teachings is Islam and its all about murder, perversion under the shield of marriage, taking over the world by creating havoc, instability and murder as first and last resort to win, what do you expect from a pedophile prophet anyway? So Hana, I am sorry to say this but God only tends to help those who ask for help and who works to win or atleast who works to get help. But we Ethiopians are fighting each other, assassinating the Christian in us by living a life of absolute secularism and denial of love. Anyhow, God knows best and I pray that He redeem our Christianity and early Ethiopian nationalism that has died out to revive and restore us to our glory we had centuries ago. May the Holy Trinity help us, restore us and embrace us regardless of who we have grown out to be.
    Thank You.

  26. Assta B. Gettu says:

    My dear Hana #23,

Thank you for your advice based on Christ’s eternal love for all of us, Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others; I am sure God didn’t send his only Son to this world to save only us the Christians: “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:17-18)

Do the Jews and the Muslims believe in Jesus Christ as the only Savior of the world? No, not at all. What shall we do to bring them to the family of God? We just have to pray to God to send them the Holy Spirit, and it is true, in the mean time, we have to love them as they are and be killed as they are killing us almost every day in Pakistan, in Burma, in Indonesia, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Egypt, and in many other Arab-Muslim countries.

As a Christian I must love the wicked but hate their wickedness, their conceit, and their selfishness as St. Paul says: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)

My interest is to see all Ethiopian Muslims believe in Jesus Christ and go to heaven with him. Their interest, on the other hand, is to turn Ethiopia into a Muslim country, and drive Jesus Christ out of Ethiopia and replace him with Muhammad. Here is my problem: how can I harmonize their interests with mine or mine with theirs? I know I am a wretched person, torn between two interests: one worldly and the other spiritually. St. Paul is absolutely right when he said: “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24)

I know already arguing with Muslims about the love of Jesus Christ is incurring untimely death as many Christians have died to preach love to the Arab-Muslim world. I understand perfectly God has given us unearned love (agape) by sending his only Son to this world to save us from our sins. Agape is a special word that describes God’s love to us. Following that type of love, all the Apostles gave their lives to Jesus Christ, and of course we must follow their examples by giving ourselves to Jesus Christ as he gave himself to us.

It is only when we allow Jesus to live within us that we experience what love is; until that happens, we will never love anyone in the real meaning of love, i.e. agape, and that is why our Muslim brothers and sisters don’t like Christians because Jesus is not living in their hearts.

I have never hated anyone in my life even though I have been dubbed “inferior” because I respect people too much and love them extremely, but I hate the evil things they do. I do not know how to love their wickedness as I love them; I need someone to teach me the art of loving evil acts as if they were not evils. On the other hand, if I simply ignore the ugliness of evil and its bitterness, then I am breaking the word of God that says: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

Islam is darkness, but Christianity is light; Muhammad is bitter, but Jesus is sweet: I don’t want to walk in darkness while there is light, and that light is Jesus Christ; and I don’t like to swallow something bitter; I always like to swallow something sweet that does not give me any stomachache. Jesus Christ has been sweet for all of us who love him.

You wrote: “And do not worry so much about these Muslims taking over Ethiopia. If you truly believe in God and His promises then read Deuteronomy 28:1-15. God says for those who believe in him and abide by His commandments, He will make them the Head and not the tail.”

You are absolutely right! Ethiopian Christians have always been the heads, the rulers, and the law makers of the land, and by defeating those foreign enemies, they have kept the country united. What we need now to defeat the enemy of the unity of our country is to be more united in spirit as the Scripture says: “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12)

Indeed, the Muslims may have outnumbered us but as far as we believe in Jesus Christ, their great number should not scare us; we can easily defeat them if they wage war against us: “How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?” Because of our God, the Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ, we defeated Gragn Muhammad, and we defeated Italy two times.

May the love of Jesus be with you!

I know Islam is like a synonym to evil, I have watched its believers commit many evil acts while calling the name of their god.I don’t understand how one can take a life they didn’t creat and still call the name of god???But i know one thing for sure, they are not calling the name of the true and Almighty God.

The believers of this cult like religion are known for massacring innocents, stoning young girls, beheading people, suicide bombers in public places and names calling. And I know it’s difficult to love them when they are doing all these to you.Having lived in an Islamic country (Sudan), i have the first hand experience of how difficult it is. However nothing is impossible to God, so we can only pray to God to give us strength to defeat this barbaric spirit of islam, for mulims to open their spiritual eyes so that they realize they are walking in a complete darkness and comeback to the light which is JESUS.

But my Ethiopian friend, i just wanted to tell you to read the history of Protestants carefully.Protestants are not pretesting against Jesus or the kingdom of God, but rather they started out by protesting against the Catholic church. And no offense to any Catholic follower, but those catholic “priests” have embarrassed Christians worldwide.

This is what one can get from Islams like you, always about cutting, insulting, killing and every damn wicked thing one can imagine. Whether you like it or not, by the grace of Jesus Christ, the Orthodox Tewahido Church will always be around and will eventually bring your existence to an end in our beloved country. And you dare to talk about backwardness, hey fella, where have you been all your life…..Islam is a definition of backwardness, a definition of hatred and animosity, a definition of perversion, betrayal, a religion that actually blows up innocent people just to fulfill the orders of a crazy so-called prophet. If you don’t know the definition of backwardness, go and learn and you will find out Islam fits all its definitions. If you think Ethiopia is better off with out Christianity, what if I told you that the world is actually praying to see the universe without Islam, imagine how peaceful the human race would have been if you were not around, my friend, let me make it loud and clear…”The World is Better of without You”

Crowded by Ethiopian Arab-Muslim population and its products completely being consumed by such lawless, godless, and greedy people, the city of Addis Ababa has become the center of crippled and blind beggars.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church has been the feeder and the protector of the Ethiopian poor, but since the Ethiopian cursed Muslims have claimed its land, its properties, and its rights, the Ethiopian poor have nowhere to go but to surrender themselves to their enemies – the Ethiopian Arab Muslims – and beg a piece of bread, standing at the doors of the faithless Ethiopian Arab Muslims.

Sooner or later, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church will claim its lost lands, its lost rights, and its lost properties to the traitor Ethiopian Arab Muslims, and then my Church will take care of its poor.

Of course, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church has been recently deceived by its criminal leaders – Mengistu Haile Mariam and Meles Seitanawi – who striped her status as the symbol of justice, liberty, unity, and equality, and as the protector of Ethiopia’s integrity and historical pride. The Ethiopian Arab Muslims have many times attested that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church does not anymore exist and its young children have joined Islam in great number or Protestantism, which is better than Islam indeed. All this false Islamist propaganda will be stopped when the Ethiopian government that gave an equal status to the Ethiopian Arab Muslims is removed from the Ethiopians’ Christian land.

We will bring our Ethiopian young children back to our Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, including the Ethiopian Arab Muslims, and we will give the Ethiopian Arab Muslims two choices as I said before: Be a Christian or leave the country, and we will not charge you for the number of yours you have been living in the Christian land without paying anything to the Christian Church.

I am sure the Ethiopian Arab Muslims will prefer to live in Ethiopia to going to Mecca, a desert land that produces nothing except laziness and backwardness; therefore, the Ethiopian Arab Muslims will have no choice but become Christians. Then Islam will be buried forever and peace, unity, and Christianity joined hand in hand will dominate Ethiopia until Jesus comes and take all of us to heaven.

    Anonymous #31,

If my thinking is “child like thinking,” let us see if your Aristotelian thinking would bring unity to the Christian land of Ethiopia, and total destruction to the new disease – Islam- that has been spreading all over the world, particularly in Ethiopia. You advise me to wait until the devastation is complete and Islam is declared as the official religion of Ethiopia. My friend, it will be too late then! What is the advantage of unity without Christianity, without Jesus Christ? It doesn’t make any sense for a Christian country like Ethiopia. Ethiopia is well known throughout the world because of its Christianity, its Christian history, its faith in Jesus Christ, and its tolerance to many other religions; however, time has changed when I hear Ethiopian Muslims boasting they are the majority and that Christians are the minority, so they continue to burn Churches in the South, and they may do it in any many other Ethiopian regions.

It is true there are over one billion Muslims in the world, and it is an alarming number for us the true believers in Jesus Christ and how come doctors, scientists, philosophers, and many highly educated persons have joined Islam if it is a false religion? The answer to this question is in the Bible, which says: “Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.” (Matthew 24:28) Here the carcass is Islam, and the vultures are those, educated or uneducated, who blindly have joined the deception taught by the messenger of the devil, Muhammad himself.

You want the unity of Ethiopia, and you believe this unity will not be easily achieved unless the preachers of the Gospels shut (or to use your word “zip) their mouths, close their doors, and allow Islam spread all over this Christian land of Ethiopia. Why don’t you tell to the Ethiopian Muslims to stop converting Ethiopian Christian children to Islam for a piece of bread, and building millions of Mosques throughout Ethiopia, and now, they are even asking the government for a permit to build a Mosque in the holy city of Axum?

I care about the unity of Ethiopia but I care more about the Christianity in Ethiopia because I believe in my heart there will be no unity without Christianity; the Ethiopian Christianity is the main factor that has kept Ethiopia united until now. You want to destroy the unity of Ethiopia by destroying the Ethiopian Christianity and replacing Islam in its place. When you advise the promoter of Christianity to shut up, you are saying no more talking or preaching about Christ, the founder of Christianity. Yes, as you said my comments that come out of my mouth are venomous; they are venomous against the followers of the evil teachings of Islam. They are venomous against those who try to achieve unity by compromising Christianity with Islam, a false religion.

I am tired of hearing the same deceptive phrases over and over again: “…Ethiopian Christians and Muslims have been living side by side for thousands of years respecting each others….” That was when Ethiopian Muslims were in the minority, but now the Ethiopian Muslims are in the majority, and that is why some of them are burning Christian Churches, confiscating Christian properties, and even killing Christians. They have never exhibited such behaviors before; this happened after they felt confidence that they have the number and they can easily defeat the Ethiopian Christians and establish their Sharia law in the Christian land of Ethiopia.

Woyanne may have divided Ethiopia on Ethnic lines, but I want to unite this ethnically divided country into one religion – Christianity – by destroying Islam that has been a dividing factor in the Ethiopian Christian history; Islam is a big threat to the minority Ethiopian Christians, but with God’s will, the Ethiopian Christians will always remain victorious over this backward, unrefined, uncultivated, and illogical religion – Islam.

Mr. Anonymous, I entreat you to leave me alone and mind your own business, and even if I stop talking about the word of Jesus Christ to my people, some others will do it: “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (Luke 19:40)

The least you can do is get your facts straight before you start to argue about the past. Ethiopia is one of the poorest country in the world and Haile Selassie did the best he could with what he had. All Ethnic groups struggle to make ends meet during Haile Selassie and Mengestu regime, there is no proof or basis to think as you do that Amharas benefited during Haile Selassie and Mengestu regime. Addis Ababa University was filled with Ethiopians from every part of Ethiopia, the military high officials were from every part of Ethiopia. Nothing is Utopia in this world, certainly Ethiopia is/was far from that. During Haile Selassie government, the fourteen provinces were represented by its people, the Ethiopian military, every governmental departments and Haile Selassie’s cabinet members were well diverse. Not controlled at all as you want us to believe by one ethnic group, in your case Amharas. Stop, spreading lies and untrue story and history. Please, enlighten us, what ethnic group were filled with so much hate and threw so many Amhara men, women, children and pregnant women in the ditch while they were alive as recent as I believe 30 years ago? I am told there is a video out there which I refused to watch. But I have seen the horrendous dead pregnant woman that was pulled out of that hell hole. Stop spreading your lies, it just shows that you are not well informed, but brainwashed. If someone asks you, what was that the benefit Amharas got from Haile Selassie?–you won’t come up with one valid point except a bunch lies and made up story. What did Haile Selassie do for Wollo, Gondar and Gojam that he did not do for other provinces?

    Well Assta,
You are one stubborn man. For the last time, let me repeat my self again—Insulting other people’s religion doesn’t bring any solution to Ethiopian Orthodox Churches. As long as Ethiopian people are not forced to convert to Islam, they have the right to worship whatever their heart desires and pleased with and there is not much you can do about it–that is called freedom of religion. Instead of insulting Muslims and Islam on cyber space as you have been doing, Ethiopian Orthodox Churches need to teach their followers the true meaning of Christ and show others what it means and looks like to be followers of Christ. Belittling and insulting others is not a Christian way. There are lots of Ethiopians, mind you not Muslims, but, members of different Ethiopian Evangelical Christians who despise Ethiopian Orthodox Church as much as you feel towards Islam, and converting Ethiopian Orthodox Church members to Evangelical Christians by millions. Some of these Ethiopian Evangelical Christians are taught to believe that Ethiopian Orthodox Church members are Idol worshipers; this is what the Evangelical Missionaries come to Ethiopia and teach Ethiopians in order to convert Ethiopian Orthodox members to their churches. Some of these Ethiopian Evangelical Christians have been brainwashed badly to believe that the Ethiopian Orthodox people don’t believe that Christ came to this world and died for our sins and so on.

What is that you are trying to accomplish by insulting Islam? I am sorry, but you seem very naïve, not deep thinker and angry man to think that you are going to bring some kind of change or help Ethiopian Orthodox Church by hateful communication against Muslims. Very sad, indeed. May God give an open mind.

    Dear Anonymous,

I am not fan of Haile Selassie and i usually hold his incompetence for the demise of Ethiopian glory that led us to total embarrassment in front of the whole world. But that does not change the fact that he has done so many wonderful things for our country regardless of ethnic or religious groups, has done a lot of things for all provinces of the country and he is the first and the only Ethiopian monarch who gave way to the muslims to government endorsed national holidays and acceptance in the nation regardless of the crimes they committed against our country and culture in the past, but as usual, they are stabbing him from behind and now accuse him with tons of lies. Ethiopian muslims are the ones who looted our country and gave away all the gold, silver, artifacts and everything they thought was valuable for a foreign country called Turkey in exchange of arms to slaughter their Ethiopian brothers and sisters who gave them refuge when they were pursued by the pagans in Saudi Arabia. If we say Woyannes looted our country, its nothing close to what the muslims did, woyannes took away what can be replaced but the muslims looted, destroyed, burned and did every unimaginable evil deeds against our heritage, can you imagine how many more magnificent architectural heritages we could have if they have not destroyed them? And those cultural riches can never be restored, when I visited Gojam some years ago, our guide showed me remnants of an old monastery burned down by the muslims, it was built if I am not mistaken, some 1600 years ago, there are only a couple of walls standing there, if have not seen one single structure in any part of the world made 1600 years ago with so much architectural details, precision art ever. It was made by the twin Kings Abraha and Atsbeha, the seat of their thrones can be seen against one of the surviving walls, these Kings were the great grandparents of King Armah who gave asylum to the family of Mohammed, the founder of this disgusting religion. Then the muslims waged war against the Axumite Empire who spared their existence, murdered royal families and burned down palaces, Churches and monasteries from North to South. Even after these crimes, no Ethiopian King ever attacked mosques, not even Emperor Yohannes who was conservative Christian critical of the muslims, he defended but never attacked or burned any mosque. I am sick and tired of muslims and Islam, a religion founded by a pedophile prophet who had no regard for human lives and nature who promises imaginary lustful heaven for those who commit crime against humanity. What kind of religion and prophet promises a bunch of teenage virgins to sleep with in heaven for people who blow us innocent citizens of the world?
    God Help us.

    hakim #34,

Mr. Ethiopian has responded to you intelligently and appropriately, and I don’t have to waste my time arguing with you, a layman with no knowledge of the Ethiopian Christian history and its renowned kings and queens who ruled Ethiopia with great pride, integrity, love of country, duty, and fear of God.

You scribbled: “When that day comes you have no other places to go for….” Do you mean when Al Amoudi becomes the prime minister of Ethiopia or do you mean when Ayatollah Ali Khamenei invades Ethiopian and becomes the supreme leader of the Ethiopian Arab Muslims? Your statements are nebulous, and no one will understand you what you are saying.

If you mean what I said, you are fool, and you need some sapient advices from some Christian friends, of course not from Muslims for they are all irksome human beings. To tell you the truth, even if ten Ethiopian Christians are left in the country, they alone would be the absolute rulers of this Christian country. No Muslim person will ever assume the highest Christian office – the presidency – because Muslims are by nature oppressive individuals to any progress, and no one in his right mind wants to have a Muslim ruler to take Ethiopia back to the Dark Ages.

The definition of Islam is darkness because it was dictated to Muhammad in that dark cave of Mecca – Hira – in the dark by a dark angel, and that is why Islam leads millions of people to darkness, not to paradise, and that is also why Jesus said: “”Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14) Only a few find it! The few are the Christians who believe in Jesus Christ, their Savior and Redeemer, but the multitude of Muslims including hakim inter through the wide gate that leads to total destruction.

We can live with Jews side by side; we can live with animists side by side; we can live with Kimants side by side, but we cannot live with Ethiopian Arab Muslims side by side because they have been slowly filling our land with millions of Arab Muslim children; we don’t have enough resources to feed all these children of foreigners – the Ethiopian Arab Muslims – born illegally in our Christian land. All indigenous Ethiopian Christians have the right to drive out the Arab Muslims living temporarily in Ethiopia and assuming they are Ethiopians; no, they are not. If they want to live in Ethiopia, they have only one choice: Be Christians with Christian names!

    Anonymous #37,

When you have failed to convince me that Islam is a religion of peace, you are now turning the subject to something else: creating conflict between the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church and the Ethiopian Evangelical Christians, and you are telling a lie when you adamantly say that the Ethiopian Evangelical Christians disdain the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church by calling the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church as idol worshipper. First of all, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church never worships any idol: my Church worships God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit – One God! All Christian Churches worship the same God; we may have some doctrinal differences, but we all believe that Jesus Christ is our personal Savior. However, there is nothing that brings us together with Islam, a religion of the killers. We all Christians – Orthodox Christians, Catholic Christians, Lutheran Christians, Evangelical Christians, and many other Christians are one voice in condemning Islam invented by a pedophilia Prophet, Muhammad of Mecca. I know my Church doctrine and the doctrines of other Churches, but you are muddling with something you have no clue at all.

You wrote: “Some of these Ethiopian Evangelical Christians have been brainwashed badly to believe that the Ethiopian Orthodox people don’t believe that Christ came to this world and died for our sins and so on.” I am sure those Ethiopian Evangelical Christians who know very well the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church teaching will laugh at you when they read your fabricated statements, and by writing such statements, you want to see a religious fight among the Christians. If that is your intention, you have miserably failed; all Christians are one family of God, and all Arab Muslims are one family of Muhammad, the terrorist.

If my Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church does not believe that Jesus Christ didn’t come to this earth, why Ethiopian Christians celebrate Christmas? If the Church does not believe in the death and in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, why do the Ethiopian Christians celebrate Good Friday and Easter? All the Ethiopian Evangelical Christians know very well that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church believes in the birth, baptism, crucifixion, death, resurrection, and in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tell us Mr. deep thinker what you think is good for Ethiopia; why don’t you come forward with new ideas that would help the Ethiopian Freedom Fighters to bring down Meles Seitanawi and liberate Ethiopia instead of arguing with me and wasting my time? I am trying to purify my country from this contagious disease – Islam, but you are on my way, please, go away from me, and I don’t want to hear anything from you anymore. Continue deceiving the Ethiopian people using anonymous name until you will get caught and tell your real name. To me, you are like Muhammad’s evil spirit, ready to deceive the Ethiopian people by allying yourself to their ruthless enemy – Islam.

May God the Almighty help you to help Ethiopia!

    Dear Hana #28,

Thank you for your great contribution on this web site!

I totally agree with you nothing is impossible with our God; on his appropriate time, he could convince the Muslim multitude to believe in his begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between us and God, but we, as Christians, must do our parts by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Every person in this world must hear the Good News before our Lord Jesus comes for the second time.

Yes, Hana, some of the Catholic priests may have embarrassed us for their immoral behaviors, but I think they have asked forgiveness from the people whom they have heart and from Jesus Christ our Lord; I am sure our merciful Father will forgive them: we are all sinners, and no one is immune from sin in this world as the Scripture says: “If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.” (1st John 1:10)

We should not also forget the good missionary work the Roman Catholic Church have been doing through the Jesuits, very dedicated missionaries like the Protestants.

Since you have been to Sudan, a Muslim country, you may know very well how that country slaughtered its own people – the Darfur black people, using the Janjaweeds; isn’t that sad? Have you also noticed this Muslim country still practices slave trade, selling its own Muslim people to other Muslim countries? Therefore, Islam is indeed evil and its originator, Muhammad was also an evil prophet.

Have a blessed time, and may God bless you!

Welcome to the United States of America, founded by Christians and still a Christian country attacked many times by Muslim terrorists because of its democracy and its openness to all races. I hope you are not one of those Muslim terrorists who surprise us by bombing our facilities and killing our people. If I were President Obama, I would never allow any young Muslim student to come to the United States of America, because we have enough Al-Qaida-sympathizer Muslims here in our country.

First of all, I don’t have a second name, and have only one name – Assta B. Gettu; I think you are confused with that brilliant person who gave you the right answer for distorting the Ethiopian history. If I were you, I would have stayed in Ethiopia until I knew the histories of my beloved Ethiopian kings, such as the history of Menelik II and the history of Emperor Haile Selassie. King Menelik II must be praised for introducing modern education to the Ethiopian people and for defeating the Italian invaders; he may have punished those who stood up on his way while he was trying to improve their lives through modern education, and may God bless his soul!

Secondly, no one asked you about your diploma, and telling us you have a master degree indicates you are a conceited person or simply a narcissist; I hope the school you are going to attend will recognize your diploma. Actually, master degree or Ph.D. is worthless unless you accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior. If you want to follow the footsteps of your cousin, Al Amoudi who has been stealing the Ethiopian gold, you are free to do so.

I have no problems with Oromos, but I have a big problem with your false religion, Islam that deceives young Muslims by telling them to kill the infidels, the Christians and the Jews so that they can go straight to paradise and rape the paradise girls – false paradise and false virgin girls created by the false prophet Muhammad to incite the young Muslims for his personal cause: greed, money, lust, and power. If you are a young Ethiopian Muslim, read the Quran and the Hadith from cover to cover and you will see the contradictions between the two books; I recommend you to read Inside Islam by Reza Safa, a Muslim turned Christian.

I wish you success in this Christian land of America!

Don’t be naive, the truth is that, hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians are leaving Ethiopian Orthodox Church and joining other Evangelical Churches while you are arguing about Islam. The Evangelical Churches are working hard to convert, not only Ethiopian Orthodox Church members, they are also working in Romania and Russia to convert the Orthodox Church members to their churches. That is the fact! Go to any Ethiopian Evangelical Christian Churches and ask them what I asked them, you will find out the truth, before you accusing me of to be a trouble maker. It is not your business whether the Ethiopian young boys and young girls join the Ethiopian Evangelical Christians. The Ethiopian Evangelical Christians are not Muslims: they are Christians – they believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior; so does the Ethiopian Orthodox Church? So does the Roman Catholic Church? So does the Protestant Church? You see; you cannot divide the Christian Church, using your confabulated stories. Islam, what ever you twist all the facts to favor your false stories, has no place in the Christian land of Ethiopia: Islam, with its Satanic Sharia law, must disappear from all the Ethiopian regions before a religious war starts between the powerful Ethiopian Christians and the doddering Ethiopian Arab Muslims. We will pulverize them, grind them, and scatter their ashes into the Mediterranean Sea, so that the wind may carry their bones and ashes to Mecca. Then there will be no more Sharia law, no more Islamic crescent, no more መስጊድ (Masque), no more Ethiopian Arab-Muslim children in our Ethiopian schools and universities, and no more Friday Prayer by calling the faithful with that ear-deafening loud speaker. How sweet peace will be then, not only in Addis Ababa but in all the Ethiopian towns, cities, and villages!

But guess what, he is right and I am so much crazed by the blindness of the whole world about what is bringing about the deadliest civil disobedience we will witness in major cities of the entire world in our age. It is Islam, that’s it. Christians might look like divided but the very core of every Christian denomination is Jesus’ teachings that forces your personality to be humble and accept others, we might fight over doctrines and on our understandings regarding the scriptures but when it comes to the message of Jesus, we are on the same ground. But look at the muslims, they bomb others, them bomb eachothers and God knows what could have happened if the super power country of our universe was not a country founded by Christians which we call the US. Imagine if it was an Islamic or communist country, we could have been toast. But God is good, he put a nation that can police the world.

    Anonymous #50,

Yes, before they get us, we will get them; before they surprise us, we will surprise them; before they bury us, we will bury them, and we will never be fooled again by such cold-blooded murderers and idol worshipers.

You call such Islamist murderers and terrorists “God’s children,” but God will never recognize these types of ruthless and blood-thirsty Muslims: they are, indeed, the children of the devil who taught Muhammad the art of murdering the Christian and the Jews and drinking their blood and consuming their flesh.

All Muslims are soldiers of the devil, well trained to declare war against the children of God – the Christians and the other non believers; this is what Tabari said: “Men of the Khazraj, do you know what you are pledging yourselves to in swearing allegiance to this man (Muhammad)? ‘Yes,’ they answered. ‘In swearing allegiance to him we are pledging ourselves to wage war against all mankind.’” (TabariVI:134) This is the fundamental reason why Muslims never officially denounce whenever any terrorist attack happened in any country because they have a belief that tells them to wage war against the world until the whole world has surrendered to Islam.

How any human being can forget the 9/11 carnage that claimed so many innocent lives: “In total 3,497 people died in the attacks on 11 September 2001.
    • 2,735 civilians in the World Trade Center died
    • 87 passengers and crew members aboard American Airlines Flight 11 that hit the North Tower
    • 60 passengers and crew aboard United Flight 175 that hit the South Tower
    • 343 New York City firefighters and rescue workers and 23 New York City law enforcement officers, 47 Port Authority workers and 37 Port Authority Police Officers, lost their lives when they rushed in to save the victims in the World Trade Center
    • 36 passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93, who gave their lives stopping four hijackers over Pennsylvania
    • 64 passengers and crew aboard American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon, killing them and 125 people in the building.”
For a stony heart like Anonymous, the deaths of 3,497 people by Muslim terrorists does not have any meaning at all; in fact, when this horrible incident happened, I saw on the television some Palestinian Muslim women and men dancing on the street of Palestine. The heart of all Arab Muslims is made up of hatred and animosity toward Christians and Jews.
On the other hand, the patience of the American Christians, with all their advanced technology, with all their chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons they possess, is beyond any person’s comprehension. When they were attacked in their own country without any provocation whatsoever, they could have annihilated the entire Arab-Muslim world within less than few seconds. Imagine, if such power were in the hands of these Muslim Jihadists, you and I would not be here today. In reality, I am not advocating the destruction of all Muslims, but I am advocating the destruction of the false religion – Islam before it destroys our Christian country, Ethiopia.
Mr. /Ms/ Anonymous, read what Mr. Ethiopian has recommended you to read: The Prophet of Doom! Then you can talk either to me or to Mr. Ethiopian; otherwise, our discussion on Islam is meaningless, and, please, don’t waste our time.

I am not saying the Islamic law is right –What I am saying is that, regardless I agree with their Quran or not, the Muslims have the right to worship. I have read a well written book about Mohammad to know enough about him. The book explains how Mohammad came up with all the verses you referred me to, as he started to loose power; Mohammad started to preach to his followers that if they die in the name of their religion, they will see the kingdom of God. I don’t agree with their religion and philosophy, but their religious freedom should be protected. As Christians we are suppose to love our enemies and be good examples…not to be extremists as a few Muslims turned out to be. We should hate the atrocious crimes they commit around the world, but as Christians we are suppose to love and show them kindness to win them, one don’t fight fire with fuel. Mother Theresa took care of and love people regardless what they worship in India and she was able to win their hearts and minds and converted them to Catholicism. I believe one of the reason US is not discriminating all Muslims from coming to America after they killed over 3000 innocent people on 9/11 is that they know all Muslims are not criminals and once they come to US and given what freedom is like, it is easier to win their hearts. Yes, still there are a few apples in a bunch. We all are created by one God. Out of 1.5 billion Muslims in this world, only a few who cannot think for themselves are the only once causing problems around the world. Most of the Muslims’ extreme anger and resentments have a lot to do with their countries natural resources–oil. They don’t want the Oil Companies such as PB, Exxon Mobile, Chevron, Shell and other oil lords to control their Oil. Osama Binladen’s main reason is Oil, it has nothing to do with God. He brainwashes some hoodlums to be suicide bombers and do his dirty job for him. Osama also brainwashes the idiots that they will receive 75 virgins in heaven if they blow up themselves to kill others for his cause.

Ethiopian, Asta’s spewing venom, degrading and tearingdown all Muslims and their religion on the internet only makes bad situations worse. There is no purpose of belittling one’s religion, other than making mad people madder to blow up more innocent people and cause more civil unrest. One hateful man can be a cause for so many to loose their lives. I hope and pray that some of the extremist Muslims don’t think that all members of Ethiopian Orthodox Churches are not as single minded and filled with so much hate as Asta B.Getu.

Peace and health to all mankind.

    Dear Anonymous,

I appreciate your matured and extremely positive comment, i entirely understand your point of view and how Christians should survive, no Christian is allowed to hate or judge, whatever I say out of anger and resentment is not backed by Christian faith but as a person who also lives in this secular world, specially in the west that makes you see things from all directions, I have come to a conclusion (regretfully) that Islam is definitely a threat for the existence of humanity. Having said that, I also regretfully have reached to another conclusion that all muslims, since they accept the Quran as their guide, are without any doubt terrorists or at least they endorse terrorism to expand their religion. We have experienced this truth through history books about their past crimes and have also witnessed their crimes both in our country and the rest of the world, the Christians slaughtered savegly in Jimma did nothing but co-existed with the Muslims but we all know what price they paid for being good Christian neighbors, tell me one single dominant Islamic neighborhood in any part of the world that has lived with minority Christians without persecuting or executing Christians but its virtually impossible to count Christian majority neighborhoods that co-existed with Muslims with sound peace and acceptance of others regardless of religion. Dear Anonymous, I wish the world or particularly the muslims have your mind and optimism but unfortunately you will make the biggest mistake to trust them, your own muslim best friend will slaughter your neck if duty calls. I rather be atheist and save my Chruch and people than being a Christian and see the Church I grew up in is burned down and all those Christian elders get their necks ferociously cut off with “gejera”. There has to be a limit for everything, if we had been Christians with some humility limitation, we could have fended off these suckers. But look now, we live in our own country forced to give up our land and rights for their mosques. In many of our own provinces, we can’t be Christians and some places, we will be executed if we ever build a Church, many priests, deacons and Christian families are being served threatening messages to leave or die and they have proved to be serious by killing priests and Christian families, in Harar, Jimma, Wolega, Arsi, Wollo and elsewhere, in Wollo, once dominantly Christian province, home of the one of the greatest civilizations of our universe, home of the Holy Cross and many mystical monasteries and Churches, home of the great Zagwe Dynasty, is now becoming home to Islam fundamentalism that a foreign (French)construction company had to interfere to control the violence in “Kemise” against the Christians by the muslims for building (actually upgrading) a Church, imagine, its in Wollo and now the CIA has put Kemise, Wollo as one of the breeding spots of Islamic extremism, Wollo used to be an iconic Christian province throughout the history of Ethiopia, home of many Iconic Saints and preserving place of one of the greatest copies of the Holy Scriptures and most of all, home of the Four Saint Kings of our Ethiopia one of whom used to be called Prester John by the Europeans as Zera Yacob was called at one time. Anyhow, if a nation puts down arms for the sake of peace, it will be destroyed and the same is true to us Christians, we have to be alerted, zealous and humble while fiercely in defending status, specially at this time where our generation has forgotten its value as true Christians, if it was like the days of Emperor Ne’Akuto Le’Ab who has stopped the flow of the Nile by the power of prayer when the Egyptian government stopped paying stipend for the use of Nile taking advantage of the King’s humble character, we could have prayed out of our ordeals and threats but we are nothing close to that generation so our sacrifice is to die for our nation, Church, Christianity and peaceful future survival of our Children to live and worship God in our inherited Churches whom our fathers have established. My friend anonymous, the muslims have invented a fake muslim king who was converted to Islam and built a mosque in Tigray near the Church of Abraha and Atsbeha build thousands of years ago that has miraculously survived to this day. The next step for them is to covert that to a mosque. That fake muslim king never existed in any historical books but our dear government has put this fantasy king in books and magazines to make the muslims happy, that king is called Al Nejashi. It doesn’t take to be a rocket scientist to know that the Ethiopian Axumite court would ever accept a muslim king to lead the Empire, from all of the empires, an Axumite Empire, come on now, this empire was the first empire to accept Christianity as an official state religion and defender of Christianity when Christians were subjugated by enemies to accept strange religions. Anyway, my dear friend, please do an extensive research, watch the film how our Christian families were murdered in Jimma few years ago and think about it if its worth it to lose our guts for the sake of being westernized to tame a wild animal vowed never to be tamed.
    God Bless.

    My dear Ethiopian #56,

You have hit the nail on the head when you stated, “…the Muslims have invented a fake Muslim king who was converted to Islam….”

As you know, the Ethiopian Muslims always want to have their own heritage, their own history, and their own Muslim culture by fabricating or spinning or writing a fictitious book. When the Ethiopian king accepted Muhammad’s family and treated them kindly, the Muslim-Arab writers interpreted his kindness to the Muslim refugees as if he had accepted Islam, which is absolutely false.

To their poor understanding of accepting and entertaining Muslim guests mean accepting Islam because they know Muhammad would never accept a non Muslim person to his house unless that person was converted to Islam.

Thank you for your comprehensive comment on Islam and its false prophet, Muhammad the rapist, Muhammad the womanizer, Muhammad the deceiver, and Muhammad the self-proclaimed prophet.

  58. Attention Assta B. Gettu says:

PLEASE get yourself a Facebook account! It is a remarkable way to get your voice heard! Christians in Europe and America NEED to hear your message. PLEASE do it now! When you register, look for Dr Thomas Ahmed, who is an apostate from Islam now living in the West.. he is Sudanese and tells of his witnessing Christ while he was a student in India. He is now a published author.. I am inspired by you.. the world NEEDS to hear about Ethiopia, Christianity, and the impact of Islam over the centuries. God Bless You!
