ESFNA calls press conference to answer questions

July 3rd, 2008 |  |  13 Comments

After exhibiting arrogance for the past few days, officials of the Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) have been forced to finally hold a press conference and answer questions regarding the donation of money to the Federation by Woyanne money man Ato Al Amoudi (it is an insult to Muslims to call this drunkard womanizer a ‘sheik’).

The boycott that is being called by Tegbar and other concerned Ethiopian groups is taking its toll on the Federation’s one-week event this week in Washington DC. The RFK Stadium, where the event is being held, has been empty, and today some of the vendors who had paid $3,000 each for concession stands to sell food and merchandises such as CDs, books, and teeshirts, have started to demand that their money be returned.

Even some of the soccer players seem to have boycotted the event. Out of the 600 players and their families, very few of them are showing up in the stadium. Rather they go to the several other events in Washington DC that are organized by the local restaurants, businesses and independent groups. All the Ethiopian restaurants and coffee shops are filled with Ethiopians who have come from out of town for the weekly event. They just stopped going to the stadium.

The arrogant ESFNA officials will hopefully now start to listen to the people’s voice, be humble and clean up the mess they created.

Ethiopian Review associates are currently attending the press conference and will report about it when it is over.

I admire tegbar call but i have a different opinion . Instead of boy coting, why not go their carry a slogan and protest in the stadium….. friday and the rest of the tournament ….having like a big picture of free teddy afro … picture of peoples who killed or jailed by woyanes …and other slogans..i think this way they(executives of the ESFN) will have respect for the people

  3. Abiy says:

ESFNA has to be dismantled and be reorganized again. Al Amoudi is not a fool to give his money with no strings attached. This is part of the strategy of dividing and killing the diaspora movement using his financial muscle. Now the result is that we don’t trust ESFNA anymore. After this, we will be divided in our positions concerning ESFNA. And the strategy of Al Amoudi has worked. This is a good sign that weyanes have infiltrated the executive committee of ESFNA. This is not jsut a mistake. It is purposly done by infiltrators among those who are running ESFNA.

I don’t think these people have brains to think. They just have only muscles to hit a leather ball. How do they accept blood money from someone who sponsored the killing of Ethiopians in Addis and all over Etiopia by his Weyane friends?

Time to disband this ESFNA and create a new one.

  5. BAHEILU says:

The so called ESFNA “officials” not only they are arrogant but also out of touch with Ethiopia political reality. At this time, I support Ato. Elias 100%, in putting pressure to the so called “officials” to return the money or donate the $300,000.00 to our people who are starved because of tplf political and economical policy.

  6. Selam tesfaye says:

All good Ethiopians should stand firm in their decision to boycott the stadium. By so doing, they teach a lesson to whoever is the nation’s enemy. Why don’t they do this donation to the starving children back at home who are desperately in need of it most.

  7. Good but..... says:

“WE,ESFNA, are not aware of The Shiek’s relation with TPLF”, shouldn’t be in their answer’s menu. They do know.
My questions are; at what point makes it OK to sell us to these HAYENAS knowing what they have been doing to our defenceless people and secondly, Will they Voluntarily step down from ESFNA or will they stay in their post like their boss,TPLF?
If they truly regret it and want to make it up to people of Ethiopia, i suggest they write a formal letter to the sheik stating,
    Dear Sheik
“We knew who you are but we made a huge mistake accepting money and XXX and YYYY from you. We want to address to you that the distres and the anger you coused to all Ethiopians all over the world and also they are out raged by the damage and robbing you doing to in their Country, Ethiopian and that is not enough trying to use them for your sleathy goal is discpcble act. So, we like to inform with whole heartdly you are not welcome by Ethiopians. They advice you Stay AWAY from their business. You have been warned.
    Ex-ESFNA”
    Regards,

I have a booth at the EFSNA event..we were misinformed and we paid a lot of money..sacrifice time..and we are losing everything..the sales for the last four days could not even cover 5% of our expenses..and we are discussing with several vendors to protest to the so called organizers..seeing what they are not capable after 25 years of experience is a shame..the organizers themsleves need a body who can organize them..and we just heared that they will donate some money for the ethiopian people who are suffering by the current draught..my question will be how much money each “organizer” will cash after the worst event ever seen in 25 years!!

  11. Assta B. Gettu says:

    Dear reader #4,

I’m very sick of some sick people like the sick reader who blames the editor for reporting a false “sheik,” which is true that Al Amoudi is not a true Muslim as far as Islam is concerned. He is the greediest false sheik who always ships the Ethiopian gold and deposits it in foreign banks.

A person who calls another person “ugly” is disparaging the beautiful creation of god. Mr. or Ms. reader, do you have a face that looks like an angel or like a monkey? Angel- or monkey-faced, you are still a human being; we respect you, and you must respect our editor.

If the very few members of the committee have never been aware of the destructive activities of the spysheikh, they must have been the-living-dead.

How could and would possible that they didn’t know the spysheikh has been running dirty business in parallel with that he has been doing on the surface?
