Beating DLP Piper

August 20th, 2010 |  |  19 Comments

Ethiopian Review has been the subject of constant harassment by Al Amoudi and Meles Zenawi lawyers that are based in Washington DC, the “capital of free speech.” One of Al Amoudi’s lawyers, Mary E. Gately of the DLP Piper law firm, this week has sent a threatening letter to Hostgator, the company that is hosting Ethiopian Review demanding that we remove articles that refer to her billionaire client Sheik Ato Al Amoudi. DLP Piper’s strategy was to go after a softer target — Hostgator — instead of taking me to court, which I welcome. Understandably, Hostgater did not want to spend thousands of dollars defending itself in court, so the management asked us to remove those articles. But, we were not about to suffer defeat. We created a mirror web site in Vanderland — a country out of DLP Piper’s reach — and transferred the articles there. Click here to view the mirror site.

Unless the lawyers, Meles, or Al Amoudi can change the constitution or force or bribe the judge to shut down this website you guys are safe. By the way, DLP Piper you are a terrorist law firm protecting the terrorist regime and its financier Al Amoudi. He is the enemy of Ethiopia. You cannot intimidate this website. Ato Kifle keep up the good job exposing these evil gangsters. As an Ethiopian, I will participate in your website. Long live Ethiopia Review!!!!!

  7. Dirty Money says:

Elias, thank you for standing firm and speaking out for the voiceless Ethiopians…for those who have been abused, locked up in jail, robbed, tortured, murdered, die from extreme poverty and other preventable diseases like, hunger and basic medical care.
Money is the root of all evil, at the same time, I thought, every citizens is protected by the US constitution of freedom of speech and press. DLA Piper have shown their mussel of Power and lack of Conscience to muzzle Ethiopian Americans like you and take your freedom away in order to protect the bloody-hand African Dictators and looters. Their story need to be written on major news papers and exposed how they protect murderer Dictators and their acquaintances by silencing journalists like you and let Ethiopians and other Africans suffer needlessly without no one to represent them.
Elias, may God watch over you, and punish the DLA Piper money worshipers. May the DLA haunted by the souls of innocent Ethiopians who have died needlessly by tyrant Meles and his close friends.
Every Ethiopian who read this message–need to pray for the muzzled Ethiopians who do not have powerful lawyers and for God to teach a lesson or two to those who defend the abusers of Ethiopian people.

Where is the country once called land of freedom, humanity, democrasy, freedom of speach, freedom of information etc,,How painful and tragedy is that to see a land of Abrham L , Thomas J,Martin L.k to become defender of Criminals , dictators, genociders. I never expect from American lawyers to defend the truth as lawyers are not journalist or historian..They will die for money where other die for liberity and democrasy.Aginst all odds , we will defend and fight for our freedom and democrasy.

  13. Tizibt says:

I am really wondering if this is happening in America, where freedom of speech and information is protected by law. How a wealthy company hired by foreigners can threaten a small company which provides the scientific retrieval of information to the free world. The FCC should be requested to look into similar activities of extortions by rich companies on smaller ones. DLP Piper is the lobbying firm for Meles & Co. and it is said that Meles pays the lobby firm US100,000 a month from Ethiopia’s coffers, while the Ethiopian people go hungry year after year. Hmm!
