No Confidence; No Investment!

Confidence is the prerequisite to attract {www:investment} by the Ethiopian Diaspora. The presence of genuine democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law are prerequisites to consider investment in Ethiopia. The following preconditions must be met by TPLF/EPRDF immediately.

1. All criminals involved in the murder of 193 unarmed pro-democracy protesters in June and November 2005, in Addis Abeba and the massacre of 424 Anuaks of Gambella in December 2003 must be brought to justice.

2. Ethnic apartheid is the new slavery institution in Ethiopia. Ethnocracy that has segregated 82 million Ethiopians into Killils must be abolished.

3. The separation of powers principle must be instituted by replacing the legislative- executive-judiciary branches of government that are fused into the hegemonic powers of the TPLF party.

4. All forms of media should be free and available to the public and all political parties.

5. All political prisoners should be released with appropriate compensation.

6. Repression and intimidation of opposition party members and their supporters must be outlawed and stopped immediately.

7. The police and armed forces should not get involved in politics and they need to be committed to protect the people from the government and outside enemies of the nation.

8. We hereby urge Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his regime to stop the reign of terror and immediately transfer political power to a Transitional Government of National Salvation.

Please join us at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 163 West 125th Street in Harlem to challenge the repressive regime’s charade of the so-called transformation and investment scheme crafted to hoodwink us all and the international community.

  1. This is a must attend demonstration and all Ethiopians have to stay united to tell this hyena regime enough is enough. The 8 preconditions listed here are not slogans, this are a dignity issue in which every human is willing to die for
Elias you are doing your part and indeed we owe you too much. Keep up the good job

  2. It should not be ONLY about 424 Annuaks and 193 Amhara killings alone.

If what is needed is viable uprising based on a new broad based unity within diversity of all Ethiopians in order to ensure victory and avoid the usual narrow participation and CUD style moral and political defeat we need to mention all the major massacres or mention no massacres. That is democracy in action! for example, how can we mention Annuak massacres while at the same time omitting to mention Somali, Sidama, Oromo, etc. massacres which might even be much more brutal both qualitatively and quantitatively?

  3. Last Saturday I got a call from a pro-EPRDF supporter friend of mine inviting me to the meeting. I declined his offer; I wish all Ethiopians say No to participate in this meeting. Beka!

  4. Those of you who want to attend this woyane meeting, I have one question for you:
How come you are stupid enough to trust woyane? I mean why trust them this time? I understand all of you are living here because it was almost impossible for you to stay in Ethiopia because of segregation, poverty, frustration and what not that are imposed up on you. You didn’t trust them that time and moved out. What happened now that can change your mind? the endless poverty and segregation that is even worse right now What? In the past 20 years our people are getting poorer and poorer from time to time!!

Here is my question to woyane:

Why are you interested in about 1/% of Ethiopian population who live abroad? Is that because you are concerned about these people? Why are you neither concerned nor interested in the 99% of the population?
To be honest, you are not interested in the people who live here but you are attracted to their money. You are thinking they have some dollar and you are after that!! Once you take care of their money you will never remember who these stupid diaspora are. They will end up in the same level of poverty like the rest of the population

  5. If it was not for the Ethiopian people Weyane will not suppose to rule all this long and i wonder what are they waiting for? and how are they continue living this way, with no job, education, health and many other problems technically Ethiopian people are a living dead. If they don’t come out protest now they will never get other chance i also think it’s a game for Weyane arresting his own opposition party people in order to intimidate the rest of Ethiopians. in the other hand Weyane keep Mentioning Eritrea day in day and If tomorrow Weyane ask Ethiopian people to go War against Eritrea they will support him this is how the
Ethiopian people are, they don’t what they are doing.

  6. what i don’t get it how long they will try to make us fool. are they crazy or do they think they are smart? all of us must stand togather for save our country n our people who living dead.

  7. Ethiopians, our coming together for the greatest cause that would remain in our living memory begins now.Ethiopians, picture yourself from among thousands and thousands of Ethiopians saying NO No No to Zinawians.

We all are proud of being Ethiopians because we have incredable capacity to defeat the enemy wherever we meet it.Ethiopians,it is very, very important to understand and make a note that our goal is to completely remove the enemy from the surface of Ethiopia;on the call for meeting agents of the enemy head-on,we shall definitely show them how deeply Ethiopians are moving forward to freeing our country and people from the suppressive hands of Meles Zinawi and build Ethiopia for all of us.

Today, everything and anything that is available above and below the lands,in Ethiopia is owned, controlled, and run by members of the crimefamily.Time favoured Zinawians and invaded Ethiopia;they then scattered around the country and moved into villages, towns, cities, and neighbourhoods, and broke into homes and vandalized the lives of families.Tdoay,Ethiopians are carrying the cost, but tommorow, the enemy will pay the dearest price. Our unbreakable promise will remain alive along with those Ethiopians who sacrificed their lives in the fight aganist the enemy. Our ongoing struggle against the enemy will definietely end in victory;that,we know, and the enemy knows it well, too.

Thousans of wildlives and families have now become homeless;birds hovered in the air for hours over the cut-down trees and looked down on the lands thier santuaries burning to ash;nustes fell on the ground and disintegrated into pieces, baby birds plunged to their death from the trees that they were living for centures, and wildlives were evicted and gone away forever. We are deeply hurt;we are deeply hurt!!!

Ethiopians, what does wildlives mean to you?

Does Meles Zinawi deserve 2.2 billion us dollar in his bank account?

The distruction of Gambela and the homelessness of thousands and thousands of your children is all about the existence of your beloved country,Ethiopia.Ethiopians, strike the enemy at its core and set free your people.

    Thank you and Amen.

  8. Hi Elias – There is a rumour in Addis about the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abadula, to Germany. Would be very grateful if you could investigate and furnish us with the breaking news of the year, I believe.
