Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa is hit with a work stoppage by taxi drivers today. Most taxi drivers have stayed home this morning, causing a massive transportation disruption in the city. Many residents are observed walking to work. The taxi drivers are protesting the unbearable cost of living and a recent regulation that limits them to certain areas of the city.

Forget 100% about the usual panicky wayane cadres belittling and down playing the people’s struggle just like dictator Qaddaffi and Mubarak claiming that the their people love them even more than life itself, while in reality and in practice the people wanted to grab and drag them on the dirty streets in order to bring them in front of justice for their long standing repeat crimes against humanity.
Now is the time when Ethiopian activists, the youth, human rights advocates, etc. NEED NOT GO TO SLEEP but conduct the job of networking and coordinating the various separate actual and potential resistance groups. Activists need to work day and night actively across religious divides, ethnic divides, political lines, regional lines, professional lines, class lines, educational lines, gender lines, inter generational lines,etc. That way you build national uprising for the national salvation and emancipation from tyranny. Dispersed and isolated resistances are absolutely normal at the start but the fire needs to be networked coordinated and transformed in to the general fire of national uprising for the common good.

You are asking good questions but now the problem is not about subsidy, oil, or even port. It is about a tyrannical one man one party/tplf dictatorship that have arrogantly established corrupt bad government and bad governance and ruled the country for the last 20 years exclusively through shooting, looting and enriching its tiny elites while the whole country have been reduced to a hopeless and shameless beggar empire.
Ethiopia and Ethiopians possess very rich natural and fertile land resources including oil, gas, minerals, etc. which the tyrannical secretive regime keeps top secret in order to secretly exploit only through its secret societies and foreign agents away from the Ethiopian eyes and Ethiopian benefits.
In a country being democratically and transparently governed with the help good government with full broad based none corrupt and equal participation of all of its citizens I am sure that all Ethiopians will be more than rich by publicly exploiting our gold mines, platinum mines, oil reserves,gas reserves, abundant agricultural farm lands currently being donated to tplf foreign agents for 99 alarming years, etc.
It is what kind of government and governance you have in place that determines what kind of country, what kind of people, what kind of economy, what kind of welfare, what kind of well-being, what kind of human relationships, etc. you may have in practice on the ground.
If you have a genuinely good government and good representative governance in Ethiopia that is not through corrupt and robs political economic, financial resources we will have everything for everyone in that blessed country.
