Ethiopian Muslim leaders consider general strike

Tens of thousands of Ethiopian Muslims forced Woyanne security forces to retreat after a violent confrontation broke out Friday evening. It is reported that earlier Friday, the Woyanne Federal police used teargas to try to disperse Muslims who were gathering at the Awolia Mosque, and when that failed, they opened fire directly at the crowd that broke through the police barricade. The Federal police’s action incited more anger and even though Muslim leaders pleaded with the people to take shelter from the bullets, an angry crowd of Muslims fought bare hands with the heavily armed Woyanne police and forced them to retreat from the Answar area in Merkato.

Tonight, Muslim leaders are discussing whether to call a general strike over the weekend.

In some parts of Addis Ababa, Christians have joined their Muslim brothers and sisters in fending off the blood thirsty Federal police troopers.

Following the violent clash, the Woyanne junta has cut electricity to several parts of Addis Ababa.

Today’s clash broke out as the African Union held its meeting in Addis Ababa. Several African leaders are currently in Ethiopia’s capital for the AU summit. Dictator Meles Zenawi, how is reported to be sick, has not attended the summit and his whereabouts is secret.

  1. the end of the minority invader occupying regime has indeed arrived. Now every ethiopian should stand with our muslim brother till the liberation of our country.

  2. Go! Hold each other!!! Hold one another!!!! Fredom is near… Weyane and cdres are within the last hours of their life… We support you all Christians, Moslims, Oromos, Amharas Tigrai Afar……..

This the most critical time for us…..citizens…..We die together to break the meles aparthied regime. By the way meles is no longer to rule Ethiopia. He is between life and death….

It is us who are the solutions to our problems not America, Europe, China Arabs… We are sure as leaders of Africa, We also demonistrate how to solove our own problems.

  3. Meles Zenawi is already DEAD , they hide him like North Korean prsident death and to shift the Ethiopian people attention to the Chaos that TPLF applying right now to Ethiopians Muslim.

  4. MELES IS NOW IN DEATH ROW. HE IS TIRED AND HE IS UNABLE TO SATISFY MUSLIMS. MUSLIMS ARE NOT AGAINST CHRISTIANS BUT THEY ARE ARE THE MAJORITY AND WANT PEACE AND PROSPERITY FOR ALL.

    Ordofaa replies:

    gragn Ahmed,
You say that Muslims are not against Christians, however you are distorting the statistics of the national census bureau. It is obvious from sources from Ethiopia that Christians have joined the Muslims in their quest to get rid of the minority dictatorial rule of Meles Zenawi. However, situations and circumstances demand that both Christians and Muslims make rational decisions and take wise actions, otherwise we will be playing into Woyanne’s hands. We all wish and strive for a better Ethiopia. Long live Ethiopia.

    Mohammed replies:

So called “Gragn Ahmed”, Please don’t talk about this “majority” non-sense. Whatever number we know here is either a guesswork or the false report by the Ethiopian Statistical Authority. In the end, whatever our relative percentage is, we can work hard with our non-muslim brothers and sisters to live freely and prosper fairly if we are united with them in building a strong nation that is law abiding. For now, don’t divert attention, it’s all about a peaceful struggle of Muslims that want their rights back, and this is also being supported by fair minded fellow non-Muslim citizens.

  5. What do they want to do ? what is this choas while we enjoy 7%GDP growth?

    zulu replies:

Donkoro Woyane! You never see the realty and always blinded by your side of a story. Parasites!!!

    tariku replies:

really?? haa! where can i find economist report on that 8-12%, aiga, walta, tigraionline, or the biggest propaganda machine of them all a.k.a ETV? …

The Economist Intelligence organisation, forecasts real GDP growth of 8% for Ethiopia in the fiscal year 2011/2012, mostly due to hikes in agricultural prices. That eclipses the OECD’s predictions of less than 2% GDP growth for the same period. That bodes well for the country’s future, but Ethiopia’s government will need to ensure that growth rates are sustainable by cultivating one of the country’s most valuable resources … its women.

    Jegnaw replies:

    @Tariku thanks
Bravo brother TPLF cash croup are our sisters and our future mothers of Ethiopian children.and are sold in to slavery like just our coffee used to be.just export our women for hard foreign currency.TPLF GDP growth it should go up by at least 2 fold half of our population are women i think about 45 million +/- few million

  6. The time has come.Let us hold each other and show our solidarity with
the Ethiopian Muslims. The reaction of the west depends on how strong our
movement is and how consistent we are to our demands. I feel the sacrifice we are going to pay will not be as high as that of Egypt, Syria or Libya, as we are better united than the peoples of those countries. The response of the Ethiopian people during the Ethio- Eritrea war will be a good example. God bless Ethiopia!!

  7. Meles Zenawi is ill. He can not say or do anything. The system which is built around worshiping one tyrant is in total disarray.

I find the call for general strike, very convincing and appropriate.

God bless muslim brothers and sisters for their firm stand against government interference in their affairs.

  8. As the regime approaches to its total disintegration, the man all Ethiopians have been known for the last 4 decades launching wars against the country and the people is now on life support. It is unlikely Zinawi will see our country alive or take a spot if dead becasuse Ehtiopians by then will have already taken their country in their caring hands.

When the mass inserction is intesfied and spread allover and accross the country, the fascist regime will immediately turn into a panic mode and mad do the following on its final total distructions.

    A. the enemy will cut off water supply to the cities.
    B. will shut down all hospitals
    C. Will shoot citizens indiscriminately
    D. Will completely cut off electric powers

At its final hours, the robbers will attempt to sagotage everything that is important for sustaining life;then, the enemy will attempt to evacuate the country. The above mentioned actions and distructions are the most possible act of the enemy on Ethiopians;therefore,we all must focus on the fight against the enemy while protecting every infrastructure and vital supplies from the enemy.

    Death to the enemy!!!!
    Victory to all Ethiopians!!

  9. Tadesse says in support of the senceble comment by Mohammed,we need a governmentwho can create brotherhood between all religions, all we need is love and friendship,to see moslims in problem and poor in the predominantly christian areas is sad,let people be free and they will know what is better for them,Wejane or T.P.L.F.has been rulling the country by force, even after the Derg,Ethiopia was still a civilized country, there were people like prof.Asrat W.yes, this sunday,in a pente churgh we were told not to seen any more so even to Meles and his supporeters,I will only say what they are doing is hated by God,Andualem and Eskender Nega are more liked than the most hated bandits all over Ethiopia, good hearted Eritreans hate these destroyers of country,I am a Tigrean from Enderta born in the good time 1949 and i say Sebhat Nega and all in the leadership have no dignity, long before a known band from Asmera sang that people should not live only to eat and drink, they have to think and emagine, thank you,Have mercy God for all Ethiopians and Eritreans, only you can rule over this country, even the whole regiem,Bob Marley sang like it was before so it will be,civilization makes one people, this is what I believe from all my heart, ethenicity had never a place in me,space and freedom.
