Awramba Times editor charged with sedition

January 1st, 2009 |  |  9 Comments

The dictatorial regime in Ethiopia has charged editor of the popular Awramba Newspaper, Ato Dawit Kebede, of violating the Woyanne “press law.”

The charge specifies three articles and editorials that were published in the newspaper at different times that the prosecutor claims to be against the “Ethiopian government and constitution.”

The document signed by Bekele Eshete, a prosecutor for the Federal Ministry of Justice, says that the articles are also intended to incite violence.

As for the diaspora do nothing, what we are good for. Our support and struggle is limited to “ye-buna we-rae”. I am sure you will have all kind of comments, all limited to this page and not beyond.
Come up with something that will grab the attention of any major news outlet so our story will be told (broadcast). Let’s promote a day dedicated from where ever we are can participate in.
Get on hunger strike for one day, not much to ask when our people back home are doing it on a daily bases with no choice. We need to get not only the attention of the International Community, but to react for better, good or worse……..

Weyannes, You have accused not only Dawit but also the whole 80 mil. Ethiopians. No single person supports you if you do not frighten them by your guns.

Ethiopians, let’s unite and unarm the very small number of Weyannes soliders. The majority number of soliders (>95%)are against the Weyanne agenda. They are serving only for dailly bread.

If you believe in peaceful struggle, show me the fruits of Beyene, Merara and others. The only and easy way to remove this generational enemy is by uniting and getting for armed struggle!!!

I am sick and tired of hearing the US State Department “..we are concerned…” This is BS. When will they have the guts to call TPLF murders and killers by their true name?

  7. reply to Gomeraw says:

Do you really think the state dept lacks guts to call a spade – a spade? The fact is the US sees Meles as a man who will do what he is told and serve America’s interests in the region. So why should they lift a finger to help anyone when the man they chose to serve their interests is at the helm? If you believe Americans would stand with justice for it’s the right thing to do, then you are naïve. It’s all about America’s interest and nothing else matters. The minute they find another house negro that serves their interests better, that is when they turn against Meles; until then the only response you will get from them is the customary template … we are concerned BS even in the face of a blatant genocide.

Comment #6, You, TPLF murderers don’t know about “tolerance and diversity” that is why you are unable even to spell the work ‘tolerance’ correctly. You don’t tolerate peaceful political change. You don’t tolerate other ethnic groups of Ethiopia. You don’t tolerate Ethiopian history, etc…The final is coming for TPLF colonizer-gangsters! Down with Woyane! Victory to Ethiopian people!!!
