Lavish dinner for al-Bashir by a beggar regime

Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has received a warm welcome on his arrival in neighboring Ethiopia for a two-day state visit. VOA’s Peter Heinlein in Addis Ababa reports Ethiopian and other African officials greeted Mr. Bashir with full honors, while most western diplomats are boycotting the event.

Reporters were kept away from airport ceremonies where Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi welcomed Mr. Bashir for a meeting of the Ethiopia-Sudan High Level Joint Commission.

Sudan and Ethiopia share a 3,000 kilometer long border, and the two delegations are discussing a variety of political, security and economic issues.

An unofficial count showed about 20 of the more than 50 African ambassadors in Addis Ababa showed up for the welcome ceremonies, along with envoys from China, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela. But the United States, the European Union and most other countries boycotted the event. The boycott extends to a lavish state dinner hosted by Ethiopia’s president… [read more]

  1. Meles is playing with fire. the good thing is the two crooks will reside in the same jail soon. Meles is smart. He thinks if something goes wrong in Ethiopia he will probably go to the Sudan or to one of the Arab countries. that is why he is running around with a criminal like him.

  2. “Birds with the same feather fly together”.

al-Beshir is a dictator, a criminal, and a murderer. This time all the world communities know what is happening in Darfur. The humanitarian organizations are working tirelessly to stop this evil action of al-Beshir in Darfur. Al-Bueshir is worried now because he knows that he will be under justices very soon. And that is why he is looking for another similar dictators and criminals around. Meles is one of these criminals.

USA knows what is happing in Darfur. USA knows what is happening in Ethiopia. But these dictators, both al-Beshir and Meles have one playing card so far that is terrorism. These criminals know very well that sooner or latter this valuable playing card will be no more applicable. Let us all prey to come that day very soon. Let us cry for those brothers and sisters who have lost their lives in Darfur. Let us work together to bring these criminals in to Justice.

    THE TIME IS COMING!

  3. The western democracies have sent a clear message by not going to the lavish dinner organized by the “Ethiopian” dictator to honour another dictator. It is also a clear message to all of us that the next confrontation will not be between third world countries and western countries but between democracies on one hand and the dictatorial regimes on the other.

  4. I am loving it! If Meles the arrogant dictator thinks this is smart, I love it! I want him to do it more often than not. The more he befriended with Al-Bashir, the more the West disassociate with him.

  5. I don’t think Meles has a choice but to receive Al bashir even at the cost of pissing his life supporters for he knows that Obama may not be as generous as the cowboy Bush was with his adventures!

  6. After such delicious food from the best products of the Ethiopian farmers was put on the red-green-orange-decorated table, the golden glasses filled with pure French wine, and the two friends, Meles Zenawi and Omar al Bashir finished their private conversations about their safeties and assets, Meles said to Omar al Bashir: “The food is ready, and the wine is ready, and so” ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.’ (Matthew 22:13)

  7. This is Meles and his Woyanee Gang families “LAST-SUPPER”now they have upset their only doner countries USA-EU,they both have boycotted the dinner, that means US-EU have finally figured out Meles and his Woyannee baby killer Gangs TRUE-COLOURS.I guess Meles is mad because he did not recieve any money from his last trip to the G20 fake summit,so this is his only way of paying back.Meles is proud of Begging, and Lying it’s his only true professions.

  8. I haven’t got any reason why Meles should not welcome his neighbour and his alliance. The west should not be allowed to interfere in political affairs of africa as this might be neo-colonialism. The new style of controlling africa and not allowing africans to make their own choice of countries to cooperate with, china or USA.

  10. What did he come to see?

What did Al Bashir of Sudan come to see in Ethiopia? Did he come to see how militarily strong or weak Ethiopia is? Did he come to see those attractive Ethiopian girls who served him at the table especially prepared for him by his best friend Meles Zenawi?

What did he come to see? The beauty of Addis Ababa? Isn’t Khartoum more beautiful than Addis Ababa? What did he come to see? Millions of Ethiopian fatherless children? Can’t one find such children in a war-devastated country like Sudan? What did he come to see? The boundary conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea? Doesn’t Sudan have such a conflict with Ethiopia?

What did he come to see? The sufferings of the Ogaden and the Gambella people? Wasn’t he satisfied with the sufferings of his own people – the Darfuri?

What did he come to see? The submissiveness of the Ethiopian people to Meles Zenawi out of fear, imprisonment or death? Aren’t the Sudanese more submissive to their government than the Ethiopians?

What did he come to see? The hospitalities of Ethiopians? Such hospitalities, no doubt, also exist in Sudan.

What did he come to see? The big number of jobless Ethiopians and street beggars? Can’t he find such destitute Sudanese in Khartoum, Khartoum North, and Omdurman?

What did he come to see? The treatment of Ethiopian Muslims by the Ethiopian Christians? Do the Sudanese treat Southern Sudanese Christians more than the Ethiopian Christians treat the Ethiopian Muslims?

What did he come to see? The source of the Nile River? Is it important to know the source of the Nile River as far as the Blue Nile and the White Nile continue to benefit the Sudanese people?

What did he come to see? The “way of life” the Ethiopian prostitute women live every day? Such women would be condemned to death in Sudan by the Islamic Sharia court. For example, on December 5, 1997, four women were executed because their government believed they were prostitutes.

What did he really come to see? He came from Khartoum all the way to see just one person, a person who acts like him, governs like him, intimidates his people like him, slaughters the non Tigreans like he slaughters the non Arabs, loots the wealth of the country like him, believes in ethnic cleansing like him, lies a lot like him, hides his crimes like him – that person is Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi).

What did he discuss with him? Perhaps, only one issue, and that issue could be how to find ways and means to avoid being caught by the ICC.
