Ethiopia: Kinijit splinter group agreed to abide by the leadership’s decision

Ethiopian Review

Former chairman of Kinijit International Leadership Committee, Shaleqa Yoseph Yazew, has finally agreed to submit to the authority of the Committee. The Shaleqa and his cohorts reached this decision after receiving a stern warning and strict instructions from the top leaders of the Coalition for Unity & Democracy Party (Kinijit) who are currently languishing in Woyanne jail in Ethiopia.

Under the agreement they signed today, the gang of four (Shaleqa Yoseph Yazew, Dr Seyoum Solomon, Ato Moges Brook, and Dr Almaz Zewdie) have acknowledged that the Kinijit International Leadership Committee — which they had been trying to destroy for the past several months — is the legitimate representative of the jailed Kinijit leaders. They have also agreed that from today on they will abide by the decisions of Kinijit International.

Click here to read the statement that was issued today bearing the names of the parties to the agreement.

Democracy and rule of law has prevailed inside Kinijit. Ethiopian Review is proud to play some role in that. We will continue to keep an eagle eye on the Kinijit International Leadership to make sure that it carries out the wishes of the jailed leaders and the people who elected them.
