Kinijit supreme council elects new executives

The supreme council of the Coalition for Unity and Democracy Party (Kinijit) was convened today to decide the future direction of the party.

The council has elected the following five individuals to the 20-member executive committee in the place of Ato Lidetu Ayalew and associates who left the party: 1) Dr Hailu Araya, 2) Ato Asrat Tase, 3) Ato Kifle Tigneh, 4) Ato Temesgen Zewde, and 5) Ato Mohammed Ali.

The council has postponed a decision on the status of Ato Abayneh’s group in the executive committee for now.

Since the Woyanne-controlled Electoral Board of Ethiopia has arbitrarily given the name ‘Coalition for Unity and Democracy’ to an individuals named Ayele Chamiso, the council has authorized the executive committee to come up with a new name within a week and register it with the electoral board. Some of the names suggested include: Coalition for Justice and Democracy, Coalition for Freedom and Democracy, Coalition for Freedom and Unity, Coalition for Democracy Party…
