Kangaroo court in Ethiopia convicts Teddy Afro

The Woyanne regime’s kangaroo court in Ethiopia has convicted popular Ethiopian singer Tewodros Kassahun (Tedy Afro) of hit-and-run and man slaughter during a hearing held today.

Ethiopia Zare reported that after the conviction, Judge Leul asked Tedy and his attorney if they have any statement to make that will be taken into consideration during the sentencing phase of the trial. Tedy Afro said that he doesn’t expect to get justice from this court and have nothing to say.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5.

  1. Another sad day in the recent not so proud history of our nation. Teddy will be free. I am certain of that. The mean spirited, vengeful Woyannies just wanted him to say, ‘uncle’ via the so called Shimagilies. This is also a blow, sadly…I hasten to add…for people in the likes of Andinat Party who truely believed in peaceful struggle. Woyane is smelling blood. And blood, sooner than later, will start to flow from the their side by actions of people who will surely be seeking revenge now!

  2. For God’s sake what did he do? singing only for unity? I bet you that you have never heard from those in power in Ethiopia saying the slighest word about UNITY.

Fellow Ethiopians, now you have one option either speak loudly for unity and democracy like Teddy and get jailed or live silent giving protection for the dectators to divide us and loot our motherland.
Here I have one smart choice and this is the only choice to free us. That is join the armed struggle like Ginbot 7 and EPPF.

  3. Here is the western supported Woyanne “judiciary” at work, of course now the western media will not say a peep about this case or if they do they will embark on justifying the Woyanne kangaroo court. As sad and unjust as this episode is it is an eye opener for any Ethiopian who as an illusion of justice or democracy under the Woyanne junta. We all know the charges are fabricated, the main reason Teddy Afro is in prison is because he poses a real threat to racist Woyanne regime, his songs can influence millions of Ethiopians to stand up to tyranny, before that can happen Woyanne put him in jail on trumped up charges and WWII Nazi style Woyanne courty system administered the coup de gras.

  4. No surprise there.

These are a cabal of vindictive and truculent schemers who are driven by their petulant nature. Their hatred to this man is almost unnatural.

You have to meet and speak to some of their foot soldiers to appreciate the level of deep-seated loathing they harboured against Teddy.

I personally witnessed an occasion where some of the Agazis getting in to a frenzied verbal assault, almost deranged, only because the name “Teddy Afro” was mentioned. That was weeks before the “accident”.

I knew it was a matter of time before they got him.

  6. what is the big deal!!?? Millions of Ethiopians are languishing in jail for nothing. What makes this one special ? coz he is a celebrity ? In my eyes, Teddy and the innocent farmer jailed with out any charge are equal. Both are fellow innocent Ethiopians.

  7. This is one of my sad days. !!! I can not belive this story. Are these woyane/ TPLF gunta, Ethiopians? I dont think so. How arrogant and shameless? Oho my God!They are racist. How could a young guy singing for unity and love be hated like this by TPLF? I never thought that the decision will be like that to show to the people that their justice system is free at least once. I will never go to my beloved country as long as those animals are out of Eth!
Hey guys lets get united and librate our country from colonalists

  8. What always surprises me is the fact that Ethiopians still do not understand Woyane. The only experience Woyane had is to induce people to migrate, to harass, and kill innocent Ethiopians. Particularily if some one is famous and popular, like Teddy, Woyane will do its level best to dissapoint and dimoralize the person through all sorts of revenge. As such, my fellow Ethiopians, I know is is a very sad story yet mere grief is not the solution. Everybody should get together to vanish this bloody and revengefull enemy- Woyane- that Ethiopia had never wittnessed in its long history.

  9. “Cry my beloved country, cry my beloved fellow country men/women!” It’s a day of mourning, for we’re about to loose our beloved young singer, a singer for reconciliation and national unity.
Young Teddy is a preacher of Love and harmonious relationships. His song “Yasteserial” isn’t as such a protest song but a song of peace.
No doubt the cause of Tedy’s possible imprisionment is political, a revenge for depicting the murdere as a “new king”.
We’ve already lost many of our icons such as Professor Asrat Woldeyes. We’ve observed the incarceration and the languishing of our former leaders of the CUDP.We can’t afford to sit and observe the incarceration of our musical icon, Teddy Afro.We must launch a new protest to free Teddy.
Tamagne Beyene can continue his coordinating role as he has done before. We will follow him.
This time no need to make peaceful protes in front of any Woyanne’s embassy. It would be a fruitless exercise.Instead we should present petions to the U.N Human rights Commission,Africa Watch, Amnesty International, musical and arts celebrities, leaders known for humane characters…

  10. I knew them Mf were gonna get him.oh my god i dont even know wnat to say.Do they even have any phsical evidence against him.Iam sorry for Teddy and many others who do not get justice. This is a sign for us to come together.Im tired oF MELES throwing my brothers and sisters in prison.MAY GOD BE WITH TEDDY AND ALL ETHIOPIAN WHO FACE INJUSTICE.

  11. Meles Zenawi, the Hitler of Africa, will one day be hanged like his mentor Saddam Hussien. He has been murdering, and torturing Ethiopians for the last 17 years. Death to Meles Zenawi and Woyanes!!!

  12. What a shocking news! I didn’t expect this to happen to him. He was very wise and patriaric. I appreciated him for his creativity and love of country. But, to be fair, God is the Only Judge! Did he really kill that person? How do we know? Whom should we believe? If he killed the person, he deserves what the law permits, just like any Ethiopian. There is no double standard. At this point, I don’t believe anybody from Ethiopia. Let God bring right justice to the beloved, Teddy and the victim family. One day in the future, however, we will be able to know the real story of the event. Let’s be on the right side of story!

  13. Why people seem to be surprised with today’s outcome. I think we all are conditioned so well and we expect sanity from the Kangaroo court. Did we learn any lesson from the 2005 drama?

We could write our bitterness and sadness all day and all night, however, without any action, we will come back some time later and cry like babies again.

Let’s not waste anytime on tripping each other and let us all support what we believe in and help us eliminate the current system, EPRDF. At the same time, whatever organization you are supporting, urge the leadership to focus on the #1 target – EPRDF- and urge them to collaborate with other organizations. If you number one priority is the advancement of your organization without the interest of the country, don’t even try to support your organization. Actually, you’re damaging the country. Support but urge for unity to get rid of the common enemy. I think, we( the opposition) make EPRDF far much stronger than they even believe to admit.

  14. I am surprised, but not shocked either. I knew is TPLF charges you, then there is no way you could be aqcuited. Aqcital requires an independent judiciary, which we don’t have

  15. Do you know that Judge (exactly cadre/ Leul Gegbremariam, who was the presiding judge both in the Kinijit trial and now on Teddy Afros case is still strying to get a certificate of law? he is currently studying at Alpha Univerisyt college-extension program. Imagine, after presiding one of the biggest court cases in the contry’s history, the kinijit trial, which basically had to do with the constitution, ‘judge’ or cadre Leul took ‘constitutional law 101 (which is basically the elementary training about what a constitution is) just this summer. So, why are you surprised?

  16. Sinde Meles and his gangs have been committing the most horrific crimes in Ethiopia; I do not expect any less from this hoodlum government. I am not surprised by this outcome. Ted’s crime is speaking out for UNITY. And he is being punished for it. Our unity is Woyannes nightmare. It is indeed a sad story. And there are thousands of stories like this that we do not even hear about. DEATH to Woyannes!

  17. Having read all the tone of all the responses, there is one common phrase that manifests the desire to get rid off the Woyanes. How? By remote control? Or begging westerners to do it for you? Get out of your comfort zone & do some thing. The so called Woyanes were not cyber guerrillas to come up this far.

  18. it makes me sad knowing that our country is being ruled by self centerd and idiotic “government” whose purpose is destroying the country and we ‘re not doing a damn thing to stop it.

  19. I am neither shocked nor surprised. What do you guys expect Woyane to do other than this ?

I have never seen justice in that country in my life time ?
A country in real PERIL ..

The funny thing is, you scream when a single “celebrity” is thrown to jail for his fault ( if he has committed the crime) and you keep quite when thousands of Oromos are being jailed in a week for nothing. Under what property of mathematics is Teddy greater than those innocent farmers. If you are really talking about justice, you to make your voice heard for those innocent poor farmers too, not to the rfich and the famous only.

  20. Satenaw, you are right but individuals who can mobilize the youth definately have special attention. This is universal truth. We understand that there are wide spread atrocities throughout the country and that is why we need to stand up together for the common cause rather than pointing each other.

  21. Satenaw:

Your comment resonates in me too. The thousands or millions of poor fellow Ethiopians, who voicelessly undergo all sorts of suffering under the gov’t rarely receive any comment about them or rarely get any justice. One person suffers injustice and that is all that takes many by surprise. We should be ashamed of ourselves millions of times for ignoring the pain and suffering of millions of fellow Ethiopians. About this one person I never cared more than I cared for any unknown fellow Ethiopian who suffers the same.

What endless history of shame and shamefulness!

  22. I tried to make sense about the whole Teddy affair by reading the above responses but they all failed to convince me. Everybody focused on talking about the ruthlesness of the current government.

It is up to the defendant and his lawyer to bring evidence/witness or alibi to win the case. To prove his innocence

I would have loved to ask what would the ordinary people of Eth think about the case? They are the one who knows better.

What would you have said, if the guy was member of ur family?? “oh because it is Teddy, please set him free” Why he should be treated differently?? What about that mother who lost her son, what about his kids who had lost a father?? The law should apply to every one. I feel very sorry for Teddy and all his family but justice has to served

  23. Why, I am surprised by your response.
In normal instances where the law is respected, we would have accepted and respected the out come of the court. But my friend, this is Woyannes court where there is no justice but injustice. If they feel you do not agree with them, they punish you with capital punishment by planting evidence and false witnesses. The unqualified judges, the police, and the prosecutors all stand on the opposite side of justice. The injustice in Ethiopia under this illegitimate government has been proven repeatedly by punishing innocent people ever since they came to power. Our UNITY is Woyannes nightmare and they are going to continue to punish anybody who speaks about UNITY. And they are going to support any political party that works on the process of dismantling Ethiopia.

  24. I’m realy sad I don’t know whose is benefitting out of this
I do even Question why the gov do this…I dont know! Why?Why? Pls Create Peace Pls Pls this too much..
